The great uniter is on a roll. Last week in reference to the movie "Till", Biden said about people in America who were,

"Lynched for simply being black, nothing more. With white crowds, white families gathered to celebrate the spectacle, taking pictures of the bodies and mailing them as postcards. Hard to believe, but that’s what was done. And some people still want to do that."

Exactly who are these “some people” in 2023? "White crowds and white families” like you and yours?

The little boohoo-boy whines again!

Probably election deniers would qualify.

Gallows… 6 Jan? Not 2023, but certainly recent enough.

Biden didn't say anything about Oath Keepers or Proud Boys, whose leader is Black, BTW. He said Whites.

Are you guys White? Are you in White families? What makes you think you are excluded? The Left always eats itself you know.

I read "And some people still want to do that." as a reference to lynching. Perhaps you are reading too much into his words.

LOL, you're like a cat on asphalt trying to bury doo-doo! (What's left after you dine.)

Keep chasing your tail!

You appear to be smarter than the average Yahoo replying, so after reading the whole statement taken in context, who do you think those "some people" might be referring to?

Hate is a terrible thing and I have no doubts that there are ignorant people in America that would love to do just that

I think he was referring to the activities on 6 Jan, whoever erected the "Hang Mike Pence" gallows, and the people chanting. He was not referring to whites hanging blacks.

This thread reads like there's a lot of 'stretching' for reason. We'll never know for sure who Biden was referring to.

There may well be people like that but the harm is Biden (the great divider) using the bully pulpit which clearly infers the issue of racism is much more widespread and systemic than it actually is (by implying or stating that whites embrace lynching). I live in a state where minorities (combined) far outnumber whites with Hispanics being the largest group, the tech industries have attracted a significant population of Indians in the area I live and we have significant African American and Asian communities. Just this morning I read a report from Harvard on unconscious bias where one of the authors asserted “most white people go through most of their days without interacting with any people of color.” In California (and I’m sure in many other places in the U.S.) that would be almost impossible and ridiculous. Prior to the last 6 years with a shift in the the national focus (George Floyd murder and anti Trump movement) how many of you even thought about racial differences. I certainly didn’t. George Floyd murder, BLM movement, equity movements and attendant inclusionary practices (which, in many circumstances, are clearly racist), classroom indoctrination and the backlash (to much of this both in support and resistance fueled by the political class and the media) have, in my opinion, created more divisiveness and tribalism than we have experienced in a long time.

You are correct.

In Germany, some of the most productive, patriotic and valued members of their society was the jewish comunity. Some guy came along and figured out how to make anything that happened their fault. 80 million people died as a result. It worked.

I worked a little while with an IT guy named Haris, Haris was short for whatever his name was in Bosnian. He was warfighter in the Bosnian war, was able to immigrate here. We have a large Bosnian population, I interact with many every day. They are good people, every single one I have met, you can't tell they are muslim- they don't make it an issue and their dress is no different than anybodies. He said they would have body exchanges, and they would find their guys with cigarette burns all over their body. He found this so sad because growing up, his mother loved to hear the Christian bells ring from the church on Sunday morning at the end of their street. They all played together. There was no problems before this guy figured out how get the divisions going... They got along wonderfully, just like here , he said. Haris was muslim, we joked with him and called him our own private splinter shell... everyone laughed including him. In that war, I learned that the Christians were the bad guys.

Now go to a sporting contest, see how rival fans attack each other? Its out of hands in other countries, did you know in Argentina, they don't seat people mid-field? only in the end zones. because of thrown objects. Its getting worse here. These are friends and neighbors in the parking lot! Over rival teams.

Beware those who make issues about subjects where no issues are. Put peoples backs against the wall, make one side believe the other is out to harm them. It too often works. Then they point fingers at their work and say "See... I told ya"

As a foreigner, let me say that prior to Trump being elected I REALLY believed the US had come to grips with racism, to the point of even having a black person as POTUS. I lived in DC for 5 years, and black/white made zero difference to me... I was simply interacting with Americans. I saw the construction of The National Museum of African American History & Culture, and visited the Martin Luther King Monument many times. Yes, things have changed in recent years. It certainly is possible that racism was stewing for some time, but I truly believe that Trump gave it an ugly voice.
