Once a site of rolling hills and trees. Then it was "gentrified"!

This started as a farmland with steer munching on the grass where now we see the pool of water and the earth-mover. Where the buildings are, it was forested with hardwoods and firs. Where the power lines can be seen, there was a shallow ravine that is no longer there.

From a pleasant farm area, "Teddy R." ran across yelling "Charge!" and they "Gentrified"! (Teddy R. from "Arsenic and Old Lace.)

This has just happened in less than a year.

Caution. Gentrification Crossing.

My childhood Glendale,AZ ranch is now a school, dental office and houses as well as strip malls etc.
Once for cattle, horses, orchards of citrus, pecans, apricots etc.
This is sad but life.
Luckily our northern AZ rach is still enact and other cousins ranches.

This is happening in the Flathead valley where I live in Montana. Ranches and farm land disappearing to be replaced with apartment complexes and condos....just breaks my heart.

I am sure, like many, you have asked, "Where are the jobs for the coming people who will rent out or buy the living areas (at a high mark up)?" Where are the jobs for them? I can't believe that the industries will follow to use the people. Many industries have been moving out of other areas for relocation, and still it will not be enough to maintain the lifestyles.

Work from home in many occupations now.
Nearly all I deal with now are work from home. These are very diverse jobs. And these are high paying jobs.

Yes we have asked those same questions. The area I live in is considered a tourist area because of Glacier National park. Most of all the condo's and new construction for homes are being listed as vacation rentals and are priced way above what any of us locals would be able to afford. Even the apartments are now starting to go 1300 and up for 1 bedrooms....it's really scary!

I am one of the lucky one's that have my home paid off. I am just waiting for the market to crash because I just can't see it being sustainable the way it is.

Grew up in South Sacramento. Saw 700 houses put up in during one summer-1958. We used to shoot coots behind the California State Highway Patrol academy. Now it is Health and Human Services offices. Beach Lake the scene of our many hunting frustrations is now a bunch of high-end condos!

Our ranch was at the corner of Lawrence Expressway and El Camino Real in Silicon Valley. I have witnessed the destruction of more agricultural and wild lands than anyone should have to. Now they are destroying my Sonoran Desert.

Yes, the Sonoran desert is being destroyed.
All the retirement communities have decimated the desert.
Looks like suburbia.

And yet, we have to have the community support group that still cannot afford to live in the popping up housing. Those "work at home" jobs are out there, but the community is what needs to be bolstered.

I, too, am awaiting the next "bubble" to burst. The Dot.com situation of a few years back is a good example to review.

Sad... Very sad.

Happening here in King of Prussia, PA (as well as many other places) at an alarming rate.

Starting to look like the city.

And Elon Musk is sweating out slowing or reversing population growth! I'm a big admirer of his. But no one is right all of the time!
