Love'n all Y'alls shares of your traditions this time of year. Dee's family heritage is Czech, and appearantly their tradition was a Christmas Eave dinner that centered around catfish for the meal. Well we continued that tradition for a while after we were married, but I must admit catfish wasn't a favorite of mine. A couple years after moving to San Antonio and discovering a recipe for grilled shrimp it didn't take us long to start a tradition of our own. So now the tradition is grilling shrimp from the Gulf and beef steak from Nebraska. Well ok it may be a Texas steer on the grill, but it reminds us of the good old corn fed beef we had growing up. However, there is one tradition from the Brezacek/Hruza family traditions and that is still a part of our annual Christmas Celebrations....

One of our recent family traditions is to travel to Florida from NC at some point in December or January. These first three are from a previous trip to New Smyrna Beach. The fourth is a colorized B&W from the 1970s.
Beautifully festive shots 🎈🎈💚🎈🎈

We have another tradition that began 53 years ago Christmas Eve...the year we were engaged. I was living in MIchigan at the time and my "fiance" and I went to what was then called "Greenfield Village" (now "The Henry Ford"). We bought a handblown glass ornament that would hang the following year on our first Christmas tree (#1). Every year since, I hunt down a unique hand blown glass ornament to give my husband. Through the years, only one ornament has broken. Our main tree is decorated in all glass and vintage ornaments. Each ornament represents something special and reminds us how very thankful we still decorate and look at this tree - together. Here are a few.

I guess you don't have cats, if you only broke one ornament in 53 years. This little guy liked to climb the tree. He probably broke more ornaments than he caught little animals.
A gorgeous Christmas kitty 🖤🤍💚🤍🖤

Once had a black and white cat named Cici. She broke a few ornaments too.

Supposedly, tuxedo cats are among the most malcontent breeds of domestic cats. Ours was crazy! Lovable critter, but you never knew what he would do.

We have a friend with 2 indoor cats and I can't believe the personalities they have and the surprising things they do. Fun except when they don't leave you alone. Of course, that mostly when talking about our friend. One cat is starting to cozy up to us though.
I'm going to go in a different direction for this post. Season though. Every Spring for many, many years we and friends have gone to the Banks Lake and Grand Coulee Dam area. It's primarily a fishing trip but we also go for rides on the back roads to find deer. When the fishing isn't really good, I'll take walks or drives to see animals and/or the scenery. I'm going to try to stick to the fishing for the 1st post (there are so many pictures taken over the years) and leave other activities for later.
Dee's mother worked in Yonkers Department Store for a few years when Dee was younger. While there she did aquire quite a collection of costume jewelry that neither her brother nor sister wanted any of it when she passed. So we decided to make some Christmas decorations for a tradition to remember her by when we set out the Christmas decorations. We kept three and gave our daughter three.
Some of the jewelry got mounted whole, and a lot of it got cut into pieces to be mounted.

P. 6 What an imaginative way of commemorating and remembering your mother-in-law. Very unique!

What a wonderful back-story, tradition, love! Those ornaments are
truly gorgeous, and it looks like Santa Claus got to you house very
early and unloaded his whole sleigh! God Bless!
