I would suggest you look in the sports section where the masters of low light indoor sports post not only their results but regularly list the equipment that was used.
Anything with a max aperture of f/2.8 or wider, preferably a constant max aperture across the entire focal length for zooms.

12-100/4.0 with appropriate body (ibis, preburst, 30fps etc)
If offerred by your body, also use flicker reduction settings.
300mm is going to be overkill if you have sideline access unless shooting while action is at the other end of the court.

I recommend the 70-200 f/2.8 lens. I’ve never needed 300mm indoors.
I use my Nikon 70-200 f2.8.

70-200 2.8, this is my GO TO lens for any indoor sports.
70-200 2.8. I occasionally switch my R5 to 1.6 crop sensor mode to capture action at the far end of the court. That gives me an effective 320mm.

I used my Tamron 70=300 2.8, G2 at a inside game with my granddaughter and got excellent results.

The 70-200 can be a great lens for indoor sports. I use it and most of the faster primes in my list, with my preference for primes. Yesterday I shot two HS games using mostly my Z9 and my 85 1.8. Haven't had the time to process my 6600+ shots, but I was happy in general. Best of luck.

Canon makes a 135mm f/2 that is a very good piece of equipment for this very application. No IS but with the focal length it is not needed. It is light weight and moderately fast.
Shooting basketball with an R5 I have tried 3 lenses: An RF 50mm f/1.2 L, a RF 85mm f/1.2 L and an RF 24-105 f/4 L. All three have worked well for me, but, I prefer the 85mm. It has given me the best overall results.
I shoot from the sidelines and can move around the court. Shooting from the stands might be a different story, plus, the 45mp R5 allows me to crop the longer shots for good close up images. The camera you are using is as important as the lens, if not more so. These images are all cropped:
