I sold my original RX100 back in August with 3 batteries for about $170 on eBay. It was in pristine condition.

You got a good price for a camera that once cost about $650.

Hah!

The same happened with my old car... I still own it and drive it. Glad I didn't sell it

AAND just like cars, the MSRP of last year's brand new car is @ 2/3 this year's.
As soon as you drive it off the lot, it can lose 1/2 to 1/3 it's remaining value.
A few years later it is "dated" and "obsolete".
You still have a good 20mp camera! Just not a currently fashionable one.

One of my all time favorite cameras is my first RAW shooter, the original Sony RX-100. Even the photography editor at the New York Times said it was revolutionary that Sony could get such good results from a small camera.

I'm not using it much now because I want 4K video capability. My wife has two travel cameras she doesn't like and is offering them to B&H. She's getting a fair offer for both and is buying a new travel camera. I suggested she throw in my old RX-100 to sweeten the deal.

The value estimate is only $30! I'm keeping it for a travel backup!

I use that camera for indoor shots due to its fast f1.8 lens! Produces Beautiful images.

Personally I do not mind older gear at all. Hell, my whole collection is old stuff for the most part. My regular digital shooters are my 70D, 80D and 5DMk3. I've gotten back into film and have acquired a small collection of film cameras. When I go out, I take a digital cam and a film cam to capture both sides of the coin!

I have a 15 year old Panasonic camcorder that was among the first to shoot good 1920x1080p "HD". Its fun to get it out and shoot with it.

Oh yes! I have an XA20 that does a really nice job of HD video at 1080. For any kind of video stuff I might do, it's plenty as the analytics show most people watch content on their phones or other screens rather than a full 4K television.
