Doesn’t look like it will be long for Willie. Saw him the other night on the Dolly Parton Christmas Special. He looked horrible.
I saw him playing pool with my buddy in a bar in Conifer about 35-40 years ago and he looked horrible then.
But, I understand what you're saying and I hope he just doesn't show his age well. Everyone I know that has seen him in a candid, personal moment has said he is a really great guy. Eventually he will be missed by millions and millions of folks.

Yes. It’s really sad.
I just re-discovered TONY JOE WHITE! A fantastic entertainer and guitarist!!
His biggest hit was Poke Salad Annie.
The day the music died.

yep, 3 died that day in '59, and Waylon Jennings was almost on that flight, but decided to go with the bus.

I've read that he gave up his seat to the Big Bopper who had a bad cold and the heater on the bus was not working.
He has said that the last thing Buddy said to him was jokingly, "I hope you all freeze to death on that bus."
Waylon replied, also jokingly, "and I hope your plane crashes."
Waylon supposedly said on several occasions that he could not live with himself for a long time after that and that joke has bothered him every day for the rest of his life. Don't know if thats true, but that is the story, and Waylon was said to be a nice guy so I tend to believe it.
It does not matter, when they go, their songs last forever.
