My wife just won through her job a choice of prizes including a Minolta 20mp FHD bridge camera. That is all the info they provide. Does anyone know anything about this camera & if so, thoughts please good or bad. Thanks UHH members.

It's free. How can it be bad? If you don't like it, sell it and buy something else. Or give it to a grandkid for Christmas. Or donate it to your church and take a tax credit.

Minolta isn’t the Minolta we remember. Konica sold the name to a company that buys extinct brand names and puts them on cheap Chinese imports. That doesn’t necessarily mean the new Minolta stuff is bad, but it isn’t in anywhere near the same league as any of the current majors (i.e., Nikon, Canon, etc.)

I don't think Konica Minolta let any company uses their Minolta name. They sold the camera business but not the name. They are still very well in business just not making cameras.

Didn't Sony buy Konica Minota? I believe Sony purchased the camera business about 15 years ago. Okay, found this:

Sony bought the Minolta camera business. Konica Minolta is still very much in business and they didn't sell their name.

Appreciate the answers to my query. I guess she has a choice to make now whether it’s what she wants.

Pretty sure its a dash cam for her car, in which case "FHD" means "Full Hi Def".

Searching the web I found something interesting.
The Minolta cameras are being sold by Elite Brands, Inc which licensed the trademark Minolta from JMM Properties, LLC which owns the trademark.
I found it's interesting that when you own a trademark but you don't use it for 3 years or so you could lose your trademark to someone else because they simply register your trademark in their name.

Reminiscing here about my beloved Minolta cameras and lenses. But beware, anything with that name on it now is not what the brand used to be.

Minolta lost its trademark (got cancelled) because they didn't use it on their products in a long time. JMM registered it and now owns it. They licensed it out to the Elite groups which run the Minoltadigital.com

Correct, it isn't the old Minolta that Sony bought years ago.

It could be this one or a similar one. It has a small 1/2.3-inch size image sensor. But its free, so enjoy;
