Unless things change, the United States will be switching to Daylight Saving Time permanently. What do you think of this? Scientists don't like it because it goes against the body's natural clock. How about the rest of the world? It won't be as easy to figure time differences by simply counting time zones, depending on what time other countries use. Some countries change the time, and some used to change. Maybe I'll decide for myself and use that time as my own standard.

I'm all for not changing the clocks! However, it would make more sense to me to stay on standard time rather than move our clocks up permanently.

....

I suppose the people who live on the east or west end of ANY time zone are really screwed, off by an hour compared to the other end.
Or transverse adjacent time zones daily.
People should only live in the center of a time zone to protect their natural clock.... Or in the area of the time zone that matches their body's clock.

So the body's clock is incapable of any adjustment?

Really......

I foresee real estate agents catering to people who want to live in the best "Sunlight Zone."

Has anyone looked into splitting the difference and adjusting a half hour permanently?

There was a suggestion for something like that about thirty years ago. Combine Eastern with Central - half an hour difference. Combine Mountain with Pacific - half an hour difference. Combine those two - half an hour difference. It might sound reasonable to compromise by half an hour, but would you want 6:00 AM in CA to be the same time as 6:00 AM in NY?

Wouldn't that be North vs. South due to the declination change?

I chuckled at these sentences in the article:

"Bill co-sponsor Ed Markey, senator from Massachusetts, claims the act would “add an extra hour of sunshine for the full 365 days a year.” Sadly, the actions of the sun are well outside the scope of congressional authority."

Did he allow for cloudy days? Politicians and science - like oil and water.
