Hi friends, I have a Canon Pro 9000 Mark ll Printer that I usually use more than my toaster! It has started bleeding ink every time I use semi or gloss paper. I have cleaned the heads etc. and it still won't work. I can use it on matte paper with no issues. I hate to send it into Canon if I can do something with it here. Any suggestions? Thank you, WLS

I'm surprised you're having trouble, my Pro9000 has performed flawlessly for almost 4 years now.
You didn't specify the brand of paper you're using. When I first got my printer I tried several types before settling in on Kodak. I was disappointed to find that Fuji paper did not do well, or the Canon paper, for that matter. I'm now switching to Inkpress paper as Kodak dies the slow death.
You also did not say what ink you're using. I tried a cheaper "store brand" once and it was a disaster.

I would suggest that you call the Canon printer tech-line and ask them what may be wrong and if there is anything you could do on your end. That is what they are there for. Good luck

Friends, thank you so much for your replies. When it works, it's outstanding and I am using Canon ink but I try to use Ilford paper because of the price and it has worked great in the past. I will try the Inkpress paper and check settings again see if that helps. I will also call Canon and see what they say. Best wishes, WLS

Agreed. Has happened to me with two Canon printers; my settings were wrong both times. Check information sheet in envelope/box with paper to set parameters; these settings are critical. Also make sure your inks are Canon OEM.

I'm with Danilo on this one,,,mine has has fine for 3 years now also. Not what you need to hear, I know. A call to Canon for tech support would be a good idea. I'm sure they can help you adjust any needed settings,,,if not,,maybe new print heads.

I'm on my 2nd Pro9000 - after the 1st was nearing 4 years it started casting a magenta tint to everything. Worked with Canon and CompUSA both agreed the printer was "broken" in some way and not fixable.

Follow up - had a CompUSA extended warrenty expiring in November. Had forgotten about it, found it in October, it replaced the "broken" printer with a new one - 2 days after doing so CompUSA closed down.

Are you using the correct Ilford Gallerie Glossy paper profile for your 9000 II?

I recently replaced my Pixma printer for basically the same reason. On glossy paper I'd get a line of black running top to bottom on a photo... mat paper didn't have that problem. The printer was nearly 3-years old, I'd done lots of printing with it but hey, things wear out.

Good luck

What ink do you use? Using other then Canon ink may lead to problems. I used Staples brand ink once and it led to problems. After replacing the Stapes ink and cleaning the head every thing clear up.

As several people have said, check your settings. If you use the wrong paper setting, the printer may be putting down too much ink. Also, have you checked to make sure you are printing on the correct side of the paper? Some papers it is a bit difficult to tell.

I have the same printer and it is a great printer! I have printed on the wrong side accidentally and it made quite a mess. I have also printed with the wrong paper settings and that makes a mess too.

Check your printer settings, I to have printed on the wrong side of the paper and it looked like I got a fingerpaint kit and was experimenting. Check to see if you printer settings are correct for the paper you are using.
