on dislike of Facebook. I agree. Personally I won't post images there as I do not like their TOS.

Correct about SmugMug. Completely free to viewers (not free to the photographer).

Provides for storing raw, jpeg, video, etc. You can specify limited or full size downloads for viewers. One downside to SmugMug, IMHO, is I don't like my friends seeing a shopping cart for buying images that I am sharing with them. The shopping cart defaults to ON. It can be manually turned OFF, but that has to be manually done for EVERY new gallery that is created.

You can send a link to a Dropbox file and the recipient does not need an account.

I've had to sign into my Dropbox account in order to access something someone else sent me. Maybe just because I have one?

I use SendSpace. It's free on both ends.

They didn't use the proper link or didn't set the folder up for shared viewing. When Erich and I used dropbox to display the MIYV entries, no one had issues with the links provided, right?

Is it possible that he didn’t send you a correct link to what he was posting from his account?

If your friends and family don't want to use Amazon, wetransfer and dropbox are probably even less likely to be successful ... Why aren't they just on Facebook?

Our older daughter - who is professional librarian - discovered that FB saves all kinds of info that is frankly none of their business …. such as name of your computer.

I use "OneDrive" (Microsoft). I keep my saved files under 5GB so it's free.

They let me provide a link to any file or group of files.

I delete the folder / files after a bit to keep the overall size down.

No one has had a problem for several years.

I have tried OneDrive and it seems to do what I want. I can upload full rez photos, creat a link and the client(s) don't need to sign in or create an account. Thanks to all of you who contributed comments to my post. I appreciate the time that you folks were willing to spend in solving my problem.

Recently, I photographed an event as a favor to my lady friend, I shared the images on my Amazon account thinking that they would be accessible by sharing a link to my shared account. The images are accessible but the viewer must sign in to their Amazon account or create a free account if they don't already have an account. Several people have stated that they don't want to create an account with Amazon even if free. I can understand this since many people want to limit being exposed on the internet. The same holds true for Dropbox and Shutterfly. I tried to use my Adobe account but any images that are downloaded are png files. While this would not be a problem for us Hoggers it is a problem for those that are computer challenged.

So my question is, "Do any of you know of a free site where I can share images without people having to log in or create an account?" The other requirement is that I want to be able to load images at their original size. I don't want the site to truncate the photos to a smaller size.

I’ve used Dropbox a few times and find it needlessly confusing. I would stay away from that. Google photos (and Google docs) are at the bottom of the user friendly scale. Every time I am forced to use them I lose more hair and waste a lot of time. I would avoid these programs too. There are better alternatives offered here.

If you have a Lightroom account, you should be able to share through the lightroom online using a link. If you allow them to download, it should download in JPEG format. Whether it is the full file or not I am not sure. If you want to share them as full files in Lightroom you could also change them into JPEG's then save them as a separate collection, then share a link from which they can be downloaded. You need to make sure that you make the file sharable, otherwise the recipient will need to create a free Adobe account, which you are trying to avoid.

I haven't tried it yet, but Flickr gives instructions on how to send a 'guest pass' to your friend who then needs no account to view the files you specify in the pass and no file size hit. Just click the link. (Assuming you have or are willing to sign up for a Flickr account yourself.)

Send a Wetransfer to yourself (email) then send the link to your friends. Caveat is that the link will last for only a week, unless you have a paid account. But you can always re-upload if it lapses.

Once I discovered the folder it put on my PC it became super easy. Just make a sub folder, drop photos into it, and email the link. I ignore all the other stuff it can do.

If you shoot with Nikon, check out Nikon Image Space. You would need a 'free' account, but viewers shouldn't need one. I'm not sure of your other requirements.

There's a link in my signature.

As Longshadow mentioned, MSN OneDrive is free up to 5Gb. I actually subscribed to it and went with the 1 Tb option. I share many, many photos and the link to share them is very user friendly. No one has ever had an issue trying to access it and it does not require a log in/userid. You can either send an invitation to an email address, or get a link to directly allow the image folder to be accessed. You can also add restrictions, if you just want the images viewable. Last, there is an edit utility that allows so modest image modifications (similar to a smart phone options.)
