Creepy Printer

I'm sitting here alone, in the dark, at 6:15 AM, and my printer makes that noise that printers make occasionally. A couple of seconds later, it made that noise again. The printer is turned off. No lights are lit. This is a new one on me. Creepy.

As I've said before, printers are weird. If this Epson ink tank has a paper jam, there is no way to get it to continue printing without turning it off and waiting. The LCD tells me there is a paper jam, and it shows me, step-by-step how to clear it. There are nine or ten buttons on the front panel, but every one I press gets me the message "Invalid." Turning it off and waiting before turning it on is the only way to continue. Even then, I have to first clear the print job and tell it to print the remaining pages, or it will start from the beginning.

My other Epson sometimes acts like it's 100 years old. It can take several minutes to start up, and it can take another few minutes to start printing. The funny thing is that it's not consistent. Sometimes, it will start right up. Other times, I can have lunch while I'm waiting. Last week, it took ten minutes to shut down. Canon and HP printers have also behaved strangely.

Now you're freaking me out. MY son and my dog are here now, so we can handle anything. Even ghosts.

Definitely. It was definitely that printer sound, and it repeated.

Have you contacted the manufacturer? Maybe a a digital exorcism is in order.

I would probably have to get an annual subscription for that.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that has to do that with my Eco tank

From time to time the receiver for my entertainment system turns on and than back off again all by it's self.

Maybe it is checking ink cartridge levels. I had an HP that would send me messages to order ink because the level was low.

Jerryc41--Someone mentioned a digital exorcism as a solution to your problem. I just checked and there is a Father Mike at St. Patrick Church, on William St, in Catskill, NY. You might want to give him a call. When it's a matter of getting rid of Old Scratch in your printer, he might have to do some serious research to learn if it is the devil himself, or just one of his Legions. I am assuming there are different exorcisms for different devils and different printers. A simpler solution of course is just get a new printer, boil the old one in holy water for an hour or two and then bury it somewhere with a wooden stake through the power supply.

Thanks. I'll wait and see if it gets worse.

I wonder if that's the church where we meet for ukulele occasionally. Nope! Different church.
