Has anyone sold photo equipment to MPB Camera? If so, what kind of experience did you have (good or bad)

Thanks,

Ironically just today I received my D850 which I traded my DX7500. My DX7500 was in “like new condition” and the D850 was in “excellent” condition. They made a quote and honored it and the D850 was in the condition they claimed it to be in. Came in Nikon box with battery and charger. Experience was smooth and communication was on target.

I’ve sold to them twice; second time they reduced their offer on 1 item (a few dollars) and their overall response time was slower. Like another UHH member mentioned, everyone seems to short staffed these days. Otherwise no issues with the selling process and I wouldn’t have any problems selling to them again. Be advised, however, they will only purchase the higher quality name brand items, unlike the other companies (Adorama, etc).
I’ve bought from them as well - no issues. Once again, their inventory is limited to those high end brands.

Walt All I can say is I had a bad experience. Not that the items were not as described. I purchase as well as sold, But that it took forever to get done. Communiction was terrible. It took days for someone to get back to me. I know many people at the HOG were happy with their experience, I can only speak for myself and It was not what I experienced with KEH, Adoramma or, B & H. Maybe there stuff is together in Europe but in the good old USA not so much. My experience is from 2 months ago. So unless they have improved since then I say go with the people who have been in the USA for awhile. They still need to work the kinks out of their system.

I had a bad experience with MPB. I wanted to trade several lenses for a used lens they had on sale. There original quote was low, but reasonable, so I shipped the lenses to them overnight at their expense.

Later, they changed their quote offering me $200 less for my lenses, and would cost me $200 more for the lens I wanted. I said that their new quote was unacceptable, and wanted to renegotiate and they refused. So, I had them ship my lenses back to me at their expense.

It must have cost them at least $30 for each way for overnight shipping, their and back to me. I asked them to meet me half way and add an additional $100 to the quote, or drop the price of the lens I wanted by $100. Their refusal and reshipment back to me wa at their expense. I believe that was a foolish move on their part, and cost them at least $60 with no deal at all.

Here's an update, I got a reasonable quote for all the lenses from B&H, so I mailed the lenses to them. They looked at each lens and sent me a check for the quoted amount. I am very happy with the B&H transaction and will deal with them again. Much better organization than MPB!

I'm in the middle of negotiating a trade with them right now. Sent them a couple of lenses to put towards a 70-200 F4 L IS. I said the items were in like new condition, which I think is fair considering they were both in superb condition. It won't cover the new lens, but it puts some money towards it. I hope it's going to be a good experience.
