Has anyone sold photo equipment to MPB Camera? If so, what kind of experience did you have (good or bad)
Thanks,
Walt B
I've sold 3 lenses to them and it worked very easily. On the last transaction they were a little slow but it ended very satisfactorily. They also seem to offer the best prices too.
Walt mpb is a major player in the previously owned kit game.
I love them... as well as KEH... Both bring a unique set of strengths to the mix.
My question to you is why haven't you tried the UHH "Members Buy/Sell/Trade -- Classifieds"?
Seriously... Photo sites like UHH allow you to gain credibility amongst your peers... How awesome this that!
One thing that mpb brings to the mix is they list the number of shutter activations on the camera bodies they sell... This is pivotal information about how heavily that body has been used. Sadly KEH still hasn't added that parameter however B&H now does this (mpb likely forced them to match in kind).
The good news all the major player offer a warranty on their pieces of kit above a certain level (or rating).
While it sounds good it really isn't that great.... KEH will only replace with another "like in kind" however they will not always match the grade you purchased it for... stating they will consider replacing it with a grade lower than the grade you purchased.
Please sell here on UHH first Walt, it's a wonderful way to establish your credibility...
Looking forward to see your post in the UHH "Members Buy/Sell/Trade -- Classifieds"

I have a soft spot for them because they started out in my home town in the UK. Now I live in France and continue to deal with them, buying and selling. They never question the state of the equipment and once even put my camera up a grade. My only quibble is that exchanging equipment takes quite a while in Europe. That might be because they're in Germany and I'm not.
Bottom line: so far, so excellent.
I've bought and sold with them. Never argue over condition and either paid up or delivered rapidly. This is in UK so can't comment on USA
I had a bad experience with MPB. I wanted to trade several lenses for a used lens they had on sale. There original quote was low, but reasonable, so I shipped the lenses to them overnight at their expense.
Later, they changed their quote offering me $200 less for my lenses, and would cost me $200 more for the lens I wanted. I said that their new quote was unacceptable, and wanted to renegotiate and they refused. So, I had them ship my lenses back to me at their expense.
It must have cost them at least $30 for each way for overnight shipping, their and back to me. I asked them to meet me half way and add an additional $100 to the quote, or drop the price of the lens I wanted by $100. Their refusal and reshipment back to me wa at their expense. I believe that was a foolish move on their part, and cost them at least $60 with no deal at all.

I have both sold and traded. On sales there have a couple of times where I felt they dinged me compared to the instant quote I had received. On trades everything has worked out fine.
I’ve bought and sold lenses and a camera with them with no issues. Turnaround time was always excellent. But, I agree with Thomas, you will do better on our forum.

Hmmmm..... I'd say (if I understand this transaction correctly) that they did well by you....in most situations you wouild have bore the shipping costs and achieved nothing, at least this way your cost was $0.00 - How is that a bad experience (other than no agreement reached). In my own dealing with them, my accuracy in presenting lenses/body met with agreement from MPB and quick payment. Still, with patience I would have made more $$ selling myself...but it was "quick, easy and agreeable".

I’ve sold and bought thru MPB a few times. All have gone thru smoothly with one exception. The last transaction, which was a purchase seemed to take longer than I should. The web ad said shipping would be immediate. It wasn’t and almost two weeks went by before I dad the item. I spoke to a customer service rep who said they were totally overwhelmed and were having problems catching/keeping up with demand. That was 3 or 4 months ago. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.
I’ve sold lenses to them twice with excellent results. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them again.
I sold bot a camera and several lenses to them. I received what they quoted except for one item. they upped the rating and gave me more than agreed on..

I sold to them twice (pre-Covid) and got same as instant quote, money in my acct in 3 days after they received. I would not blame them for slight delays today, everyone is understaffed since Covid, some shipments are delayed because of backup due to flight cancelations.
It's been several years but it went very well and they offered the most!
I’ve sold lenses. Had no issues. The prices they gave me were fair. I would use them again.
