Nice photo. A friend of ours owns a dairy farm with 2,500 cows and put his kids through college and given them a pretty good life, but none of them want the hard work that it requires to take it on. The mentality nowadays is why work hard when you can make more money without the intense commitment. In a way I can't blame them, but there are still careers out there that you are married to that do give a good return that don't require a college degree.

Now that all of the children are growing up. Oh wait it's just an old barn, but it makes you wonder if the next generation want to carry on the tradition or do they want to move on to so called greener pastures?

Nice image! Making a living by competing with corporate agriculture with a family owned and run farm is a real challenge today. I think it will get harder for the next generation.

I like the photo, Bill. And I have contemplated the same question. I don't come from a farming family, at least from the most recent generations but it wasn't too long ago that farming was the main method of making a living. For just about everyone. Now the corporate farms are taking over, and I guess that's almost a necessity to feed a growing population, look at Bill Gates. He just bought up another 13 million dollars of farmland. I think he sees the future of farming. Good or bad.

I hear ya Chief. The town I grew up in in Texas had a population of 2,700, and you were either a farmer or had a business that supported farmers. Of course there was always the oil field jobs.
