You could get a business coupe with or without a back seat. Probably no raido or heater in this one originally. More than likely not a Fordomatic. And a six cylinder. I had a V8 Fairlane two-door sedan with heater and push button radio. Love the mufflers. Boy would it scoot. My highschool car 1957-61.

Defiantly a V8 see the V8 emblem in front on the Mainliner signature

Sometimes Serendipity strikes unexpectedly.

1954 Ford Mainline V8 2 door hard top.

I did chat with the owner who was proud of his automobile. He stated that he always wanted to own one. Unfortunately, both he and I had to move along, so we just chatted briefly.

The color reminded me of the Falcons that were favored by the Mennonites. The black colors were similar.

I love these posted older cars. And I love this one. Sweet rides! Thanks for sharing it.

It is a 2 door sedan, not a hardtop...

Unless Ford did things differently back before the mid fifties that is a two door coupe, not a hardtop. “Hardtops” typically had no “B” pillar that separated the front and rear windows. I had a ‘53 4-door with the last of the flathead V-8 engines. Mine came equipped with cracks in the block from a couple of the exhaust valves to the cylinder walls. The used car folks nicely didn’t charge me extra for those. I bought K&W Block seal by the case and drove it for two years my senior year in HS and freshman year at university. That engine didn’t exactly make me a Ford fan.

Flathead were a PIA to rebuild, but they did win a few races back in the day.

Had a friend who had one. We put a Merc 312 in it, added two rows of louvers to the hood and drove it to Mexico and had the interior done in leather. Way too much engine for the car but it went like hammers.

Fun times.

Thanks to all for your comments. It is not often I come across vintage cars "out in the wild". But when I see them, I try to get a shot or two, at least. And talk with the owners of the cars.

I am still hoping to come across a 1959 Triumph TR3 that has not been converted into a racing car. It is on top of my list of vehicles I did own.

Side note: I bought a "retired" Southern Bell 1967 Ford E150 on which I put over 300,000 miles, on top of the 125,000 that was on odometer when I got it. It had a 19" clutch plate that pushed it everywhere without a drop of sweat. (The engine was an AMC 6 cylinder engine block!) I had to sell it when moving to a new state and having two other vehicles. It was heartbreaking. I have always been fascinated by machinery and mechanics.

The ford 300 6 cylinder was an awesome engine. I still have one on a generator we don’t use.
