Because of a great number of calls these days the police are always minutes to hours away when seconds count. That is a true statement and has been for years now since I was a LEO back in the 1970's. Almost 100% of the time police arrive AFTER the crime has been committed. That is why it is a great idea for citizens to be armed and know how to use a firearm.

Paying for an abortion is so much cheaper than paying for a birth, paying to raise a kid, paying for all the trouble they may cause (70 percent of juvenile offenders are from single parent families) and paying to incarcerate them latter. The tougher you make the punishment, the harder someone who's first instinct was to run will try to get away. You seem to be another one who doesn't care how much it cost as long as those you believe need punished get punished. There are always unintended consequences. Car theft became a problem, so manufacturers made cars close to theft proof, and car jacking was born.
