Maybe he ate too much wild cannabis and now thinks he is a squirrel.

Those are some interesting shots.

Wonder if that is a mixed breed with something else.
It has a somewhat different look than ground hogs I've been around that can cause a lot of problems with the holes they burrow out in hay fields. They don't look like they would be able to climb on a branch like that one in your good pics.

Thanks Dustie. I was thinking at first it might be a porcupine, legs seemed to long for a groundhog but the more we watched it the more we went with groundhog

Groundhogs to farmers or gardeners have always been pests to be gotten rid of and my dad in his lifetime killed countless of them and I remember one time my dad and his cousin killed one that had run up a small tree. Then my dad's cousin skinned and gutted it and had my mother cook it. It was too many years ago for me to remember what it taste like but if it had tasted terrible I'm sure I would remember that. Back in the day we ate much wild game including racoon but groundhog only once that I can remember.

Groundhogs to farmers or gardeners have always bee... (show quote)

They are pests. Get into everything and are destructive. Never had groundhog so I wonder if would taste good or not

Great captures, Jack. I wonder if a fox may have chased the little guy up there.
