Ok I know we are having trouble with the supply of chips etc... But as a camera "junkie" - I am bored, and I want to start seeing new cameras come out. Before Covid the camera companies would release 5 to 6 new cameras a year. Last year Canon only released 1. So does anyone have any insight on when we will start to see more cameras released?

New ones being "released" and being available for actual sales and delivery are two different things. No idea when anyone will be able to get much of anything new.

As far as the camera companies designing new models of cameras and lenses, perhaps the next round of exploding SmartPhone Li-Ion Batteries!

Lots of promises but the camera companies are probably as unhappy about the delays as we are.

I rubbed my magic ball this morning and also consulted the stars last night, in addition to this I called my financial advisor, and everything I have seen and heard tells me this, SOON.

So many of us define success as buying a new camera.

Technology comes to Plateaus and new innovations are few and costly. New may mean a name change with little actual change in specifications. Perhaps you, TommiRulz, can write about a new camera that does not and will not exist and then read about it to satisfy your new camera need for a fix.

Be sure to include batteries by Tesla... humm... the Tesla PhotoPhone will be in your hands soon for you to write a review comparing to the iPhone!!!

Look at OM Digital Solutions, it took over a year to introduce a new camera, the OM-1. I agree with dpullum, it gets more and more difficult to bring new technologies to cameras and perhaps more expensive. Remember the "megapixels race?" Remember continues shooting each time with a faster shooting rate?

Now emphasis is on mirrorless cameras, all of them packed with better technologies than dSLR bodies. The pandemic and shortage of parts have slowed down the production of new cameras but that, as has already been discussed, is about to end.
I have no complaints, I am perfectly happy with my old cameras and lenses.

If you really are a camera junkie, try buying some β€œnew” used ones. You’ll keep yourself busy learning how to operate the cameras until a new camera comes along πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

I'm sure when there is any information about new cameras being released it will made available first on UHH.

Only after every UHH member is made aware will the rest of the world be advised.

Garmin makes a G3X; it is an all-in-one "glass cockpit" in many light aircraft built in the last eight or ten years. airplane. It replaces ALL of the instruments in older aircraft in a single 12" screen, and it's marvelous! Short learning curve tool

TommiRulz next cameras will have emulators ... select the art style... today all will be SOOC with van Gaug image processing or mid day select pointalism. Instead of poliroid rotating filter you can select Dalli modifications of the image. Check out:

Likely never at that rate.
Manufactures have cut their product lines severely thus fewer camers to update.
Outside of Sony most cameras seem to have a shelf life of 3-4 years.
Now with firmware updates you will see, like Nikon is doing with the Z9, holding back features and just updating firmware in the 4 year cycle to keep interest going.

It's not just chips, the entire supply chain has been having extreme difficulties. In addition the market for interchangeable lens cameras is suffering a decline. As a result manufacturers are being more conservative about coming out with new models that they won't be able to deliver in quantity and which might languish on shelves if they did.
