SL2L42843 Drake American Wigeon by
Sherwood Lincoln, on Flickr
These may be the best drake Wigeon I have ever photographed. From Whatbird.com, "The American Wigeon was formerly known as "Baldpate" because the white stripe on their crown resembles a bald man's head. Their diet has a higher proportion of plant matter than any other dabbling duck diet. Their short blue bill enables them to exert more force at the bill tip than other dabbling ducks. All photos are taken in Southeastern Ct. most with a Canon 5D Mark IV and Canon 100 to 400II
