Regular in NC is about $4.19, premium is $4.94. No idea about diesel, but got to be tough on independent truckers. One thing for sure, if natural gas and gasoline stay this high, more and more consumers will be moving to heat pumps, electric cars and solar on their roof. Our natural gas heating bill was about 50% higher than last year. That makes me consider changing my A/C outside unit to a heat pump so I can choose the cheapest energy and considering a plug in hybrid.

We use a heat pump and propane set up as a dual fuel system. In Ohio it gets to cold at times for a heat pump to produce heat so the dual fuel system shuts the heat pump off and fires up the propane at 24 degrees outside. Most regular heat pump systems have what is called emergency heat which is electric coils similar to a toaster. The regular heat pump systems when the heat pump stops producing heat due to outside low temps it turns on the electric emergency heat and both run. Will blow your electric bill out of the water. With a dual fuel system it shuts down the heat pump and runs the other source of heat by itself. Great way to save money. I have had dual fuel in my last 3 homes. First one with electric emergency heat. It saved about half over a regular system when it was very Cold
