The opener incorporated in my mirror in my SUV used to trigger the door opener from almost a city block away (4 houses); suddenly, it would work from less than 2 houses. Obtained a small, handheld for my older car; it would only work from the end of my driveway (about 20 feet from garage to street).
I made one small change and now the SUV opener begins opening the garage door from 7 houses; the handheld opener starts the opener from 5 houses away.
I had replaced the lights on the motor in the garage with LED lightbulbs; situation resolved by replacing LED bulbs with non LED bulbs. Seems the LED bulbs emit an electrical interference that greatly reduces the remotes capability of communicating with the opener.

But aren't the bulbs not powered (off) until the garage door opener activates?
If they are off, they should not create any interference.
When they turn on, the opener has already been activated.

That would seem to be a valid observation, but it seems the practical application of his 'fix' solved his issue...albeit a solution I would be hard to explain given Longshadow's observation.
When I had a opener installed. They told me no LED BULBS??? Not why but don’t….
Floyd, a good friend of mind had a similar problem with his garage door opener. It all started with installing LED bulbs. When he removed them and put in "Standard" incandescent bulbs the opener worked just fine.

Well, I’ve had a problem with my door opener since I tore the cuff in one shoulder but I’m compensating. There’s a little more strain on the other shoulder but I’m managing.😂

I found something interesting about my garage door opener: when operated from a longer than usual distance, the door fails to activate but the LED lights come on and stay on for few minutes. In my opinion, this I indicates that the LEDs are preventing the communication and hand-shake between controller and the main unit to take place. I know what my next move will be...
I have a similar problem but, it's with tv reception. Could this be the reason for my problem?
Genie, and other brands make a bulb that is specifically made for garage door openers. Side note...LEDs have a transformer in them since they run on DC.

I've never used anything but LED bulbs in mine, and it opens from a block away, no problem.
Some LED bulbs will interfere with the garage door opener. I had to replace the LED bulbs with incandescent bulbs to fix the problem.
I replaced my garage door opener in the summer of 20 and the instructions clearly stated to NOT use LED bulbs. The opener I replaced had been malfunctioning for some time and had an incandescent bulb in it. I think it just got worn out and decided to quit on me. It also was not working from a distance. The new one works from a couple hundred feet away. I didn't question the instructions, just followed them.
