I'm really enjoying my full frame, a7m3; however, right now I'm a bit worried. A few days ago noticed black dots on pictures up loaded from the memory card. First tried using the "Clean Sensor" option in the camera, spots didn't disappear. I've successfully cleaned sensors before, so following Sony's instructions, I took a full frame sized swab and carefully and softly cleaned the sensor surface. When reversing the swab per instructions, away from the sensor surface, the sensor wiggled slightly when touched. Three frames taken after this showed a clean surface and apparently no problem as all shadows and lines of the white door used for the test were as before. Do I have a problem, or was the slight wiggle to be expected?
Depending on the pressure you apply, that does not sound out of line, Floyd. I clean my a7rM3 sensor regularly and it sounds like you did it correctly.

Thank you for your insight. My major concern was the obvious, though slight, wiggle.

The camera has IBIS.Wiggle is normal.

I’ve only swabbed an a7xx once and I’d just assumed the wiggle was normal for an IBIS sensor. It’s been fine ever since then, 3 or 4 years along now.

Appreciate you sharing your experience. I'll breathe easier and continue shooting.
Everything is fine. Wiggle is normal...still...be gentle.
I clean my sensors all the time...takes just a few minutes to each one.
It's a good habit, and no big deal.

I’ve done the same. No problems with a little wiggle
Have fun!
Thanks for this question! I recently started having spot issues also and my local camera “cleaner” retired with the Covid Catastrophe! Glad to hear I can DIY with care…

I'm like the little firefly that backed into the fan: Delighted, I could help. I've been DIY sensor cleaning for a few years with no problems; the wiggle had me worried. The many nice folks on this site are always willing to help.
