So much for Nikon's much vaulted F-mount and upward compatibility.
Oh PLEASE........ Can ANY of Canon's older lenses even FIT on their MILC bodies??? Absolutely NOT ONE!!! But almost all of Nikon's Older lenses do fit even though some functions, including autofocus, will not work. Did you forget how to manually focus, or is that before your time? Be well my friend.

He doesn't have a Canon MILC body but I am sure he mounts his Canon FD lenses on his Sony.

I have a full set of old nikon mount primes that are "chipped". On camera the aperture control and EXIF are the same as a "G" lens. You get the benefit of automated exposure and iris functions. They are, of course, manual focus. They range from 16mm to 200mm.
Did you instal chips onto Ai lenses ?

Such a loud bold proclamation !!!
Loudly boldly DEAD WRONG, too !!!
It’s dirt simple easy to put Canon FD and FL lenses into use on Canon R6, R5, etc. exactly same as old Nikon lenses in use on Z6, Z7, etc. No difference. What you posted is simply false “information”.
Beats me where you looked to get your “information” but you might wanna try getting it from somewhere else. I used B&H so I even have a vendor, a product, and a price.
Acoarst I don’t parrot rumors. I actually know these things by really doing stuff. Examples attached. The 2nd and 3rd pix should especially interest you. As you can clearly see, that is a lens for a ca 1960 Canon but I use it on a “MILC” as shown:
.
19/3.5 FL on “MILC”. Fits one, fits all.

Canon mount plainly visible here.

Same lens on “MILC”. Fits one, fits all.

Acoarst you can put old Nikon lenses on new Nikon Zs. You can even put old Canon lenses on new Nikon Zs.
And vice versa ! You can put old Nikon lenses AND
put old Canon lenses on new Canon R bodies. It appears you just follow disgruntled bloggers, or rumor mongers, but don’t use the stuff. That acoarst leaves you gullible to blatant BS, leading to your LOUDLY parroting misinformation on things you know nothing about.

I am not sure what the big deal is. Focus and use manual mode. Most of my glass is 1970's Nikkor. I just purchased my 1st Z 35mm f/1.8 S and will use it in manual mode to zone focus for low light night street photography with a Z6ii. The only other AF lens I have is a Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8 ED.

We don’t have split screen or prison focus aids as in the SLR days.
So the big deal for me is without those aids, the camera can autofocus faster and better than my old eyes.

Every EVF camera has waaaay better MF aids than we every had in ANY SLR, of any size, from any era. Those old eyes have huuuuugely better assists available today than ever before.

You can put new Canon and Sony lenses on Nikon.

I have installed 7 CPU chips on my Ai prime lenses.
I think that this thread has used up its usefulness. The main points are that Nikon doesn't make an adaptor that works with autofocus on Nikon's screw drive lenses and neither does anyone else.
Also noted here was that some of the older lenses are quite good. If one switches to the Z system, they won't be fully functional (loss of autofocus), and an individual has to decide if it's worth the expense to switch to Z and buy replacements. The end.

Three years ago I lost 65% of my vision, so I understand your position. My sight is coming back after 2 operations, and may need one additional operation soon. I still use zone focusing for street photography. I preset the focus point, usually 7 feet, with my 35mm lens set at f/8. I walk into the focus area or let the action come to me.

I totally agree with you. DSLRs in my opinion are equal or Superior! Especially in Still photography. I don't do video, no interested in cinematography. Plus can't stand Evf's, prefer the live view. Thanks

All electronic solutions, like Canon's 1980s revolutionary EOS / EF-mount, continue to pay dividends as camera technology continues to march forward in the 21st century. Backwards compatibility used to be Nikon's strength, but now it's Canon's.
