I did a search and I found only two Lightroom 11 topics. One was about compatibility with a Mac and the other had three posts about astrophotography.

I'm more than a bit excited with the now 3 day old update and am surprised that there is so little discussion here on UHH!

Along with Lightroom Classic, Adobe updated about everything else this week too!

Anybody else like what they see in the updates?

I’ve used LrC all three days. It’s great. I’m going to have to take some tutorials on the masking features, though.

No bugs so far… M1 MacBook Air running MacOS 11.6.1 Big Sur.

Nothing to discuss for me. I was in a quandary for a couple of years, had a Lightroom version, pre 6.0, when I got my D850 my version of Lightroom would not handle its RAW files. Few months back Nikon introduced NX Studio which handles D850 and D780 RAW files and does pretty much everything I want for editing Nikon RAW. There are a couple of minor capabilities Lightroom has that NX Studio doesn't, no big deal. I am a minimalist when it comes to editing.

The really big news is the new masking capabilities in LR/ACR. It was sorely needed and they did a good job. Masking in order to effect local adjustments in LR/ACR has made nothing short of a major leap forward.

I'm really enjoying the new stuff - especially the masking/Select Sky/Select Subject (in raw) and all of the options for editing in the masks, as well as the boost in performance - like batch edit syncing and Library Module, and all the little refinements. With this update there is simply no reasonable justification to use outdated versions of Lightroom, especially if the camera being used is new enough to not be directly supported in the old version(s). The performance enhancements and Photoshop-like masking and targeted adjustments are worth the price of admission alone.

No need to discuss it - it's clearly better, and probably the best raw converter on the market today!

If you are skeptical, here's a taste of the new masking capabilities:

No bugs works with my Loupedeck +. Getting used to the masking menu is going to take a while. I was impressed how it grabbed people without much bleeding around the edges. It's cool how you can invert the selection.

Tutorials? All the usual folks have them. You can watch Matt, Anthony, Scott, Tim and more! Terry and Julieann put some up for the MAX event. Matt even seems to have a pay for "In Depth" course. I watched Anthony's this morning.

Everytime I look at a Loupedeck, I seem to think I need or want one!

Matt is one of my favorites. When I was starting with Lightroom 4, I used Kelby's book. In the fine print, it said Matt wrote it!

OK! I'll take the bait!

There is a long march of steady tool upgrades since Pre 6.0. Just the tricks and tools that came out alone with 11.0 this week are more than a "couple of minor capabilities".

That said, being a near "SOC" minimalist is still very cool if it works for you, your workflow and your creative goals. You still might have fun taking advantage of a free trial or watching some of the tutorials on the new tools. I think you might be missing some very fun stuff!

Have not had time to really work with it yet but spent about 10 minutes and I thought the masking was a great improvement. For me it was intuitive and easy to use.

I was thinking about "major leaps" in my photography. Certainly losing my darkroom and abandoning film was one. Lightroom 4 with an original Sony RX100 was another. (Real RAW with a pocket camera!) Oddly the DeHaze slider in Lightroom 6.3 (?) was more memorable for me than many upgrades. The gradual interconnectivity changes of the multiple Lightrooms and Photoshop has been a mind bender for me. (Shoot a RAW on my phone or drone and they are somehow automagically in Classic on my computer when I get home!) And, now, as Matt K wrote this week ".. this is the biggest change I've have ever seen in Lightroom". After reworking a couple recent images, I think he is right!

Though maybe not related to UHH photography discussions, the path down the videography trail has some mind benders in it too. Premiere Pro and After Effects were not left out of the MAX releases this week either either! Among the most entertaining upgrades this week has been Character Animator.
