Since there's a conversation going on about scanning, would someone please refresh my memory?
When I bought the V700 Epson there was a CD with it with software that I installed, and used all the time, for different settings, different size photos, neg's etc.
Three years ago we moved. Recently my hard drive crashed and I lost a lot of what was on it. Most of it was backed up to an external drive, except for the CD's I had used to install the various programs.
Now I cannot find the CD for this software to go with the scanner and for the life of me I cannot remember the name of that program.
Can someone help me out, please? I would really like to buy this software to have it again.

Go to the scanner manufacturer's web site.

I did that. It doesn't name the software I'm looking for.
If I remember correctly, it was not actually Epson software, but provided by another company.
If I could just remember the name of it, I could buy it to use it again.

If no luck, try PaperScan free edition, I really like it, as it allows some editing before saving.

I think VueScan is what you’re looking for. Epson provides its own software driver and program with each new scanner. VueScan provides features that the company software doesn’t and is well rated by its users.

Maybe it's Vuescan.
They may have a record of your account.
Good luck.

Thank you all so much for your replies! I found it thanks to the mention of Viewscan.
The name was not familiar to me, so Googled it, and that took me to Vuescan:
https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=vuescan
On the right of this page is a block with some information, and "People also search for"... Bingo!
The first icon is for Silverfast - and that's the name that had completely escaped me!
This aftenoon I will go to their website and see if I can order the program from there!
Again: Thank you all so much for your help! I don't know if I would have found it without that help!

Vuescan and Silverfast made software for scanners - many types and models will work with their software. They even include drivers for a lot of scanners that are out of production so they are the only people you can get drivers/software from.

I use VueScan but others swear by Silverfast.

I'm not sure which software you were using but I'd recommend Silverfast software. https://www.silverfast.com

Silver fast is available for download for almost all popular scanners, even many that have been out of production for a very long time. I used it quite a bit in the first year of two after moving from film to digital. It is easy to use, and very stable.

While my V600 did not come with Silverfast on a CD, there was a link to the Silverfast site for a free download on the support page. You might check the Epson Support site to see if there exists such a link for your V700.

I have the Epson V600 and use Vuescan. If you owned a copy, they send out updates every month or so. Contact them and see if you can get yours installed on your new hard drive. Good luck.

No experience with Silverfast, but two thumbs up for the Vuescan.
