The cropped image is better IMHO. It removed clutter from the first one, it does not add to the image.

the cropping helped a good picture get better.
would a slight tilt to the left have helped ? (not sure - I don't think the surgery corrected my astigmatism totally so I am still adjusting my brain!)

Personally, I think the cropped image looks better. There was too much of nothing on the right in the uncropped photo.
