The population of the world has been "dumbed down" due to a lack of common sense and logic. I think of all the really ignorant responses that have been obtained by on the street interviews that ask questions like 'who was the father of our country?" (in the US) and "when was the war of 1812 fought?" or even "when was the revolutionary war for US independence?" So many people do not know those answers. So many know more about what celebrity is dating another celebrity than know history, math or even how to spell. It only seems reasonable that people are so easily convinced that something is fact when it logically is false and ridiculous.

The population has dumbed down because of the total failure of discourse. There was a time not that long ago (I don't consider 50 years that long) when individuals with all kinds of diverging beliefs would actually discuss various subjects without going bonkers on one another. The rational thought of others was valued if not actually adopted as one's own. Those, my friends, were the good times. One thing. We actually respected one another as people apart from these diverging opinions. Now, we seem to attach values to individuals according to their belief systems.
As Stephen Colbert commented on this issue those people have nothing to worry about as the zombies want to eat brains.

Steve, you absolutely hit the nail squarely on the head. Respect and consideration for other perspectives has evaporated. We may disagree on an issue, but it’s enormously important to listen and try to understand.
The late Tony Snow (Fox News, Detroit Free Press, and Prez W’s press secretary) was my classmate at Davidson. He was captain of the debate team there. His mantra was that if you could not argue for the other side well enough to win a debate, you probably didn’t understand the issue.
Then there is the scripture in Revalation about the mark of the beast, being 666 and nothing shall be bought or sold without it. It is the time, and we have the capabilities to do such. So I guess some are leary.

That is the root of the problem in America today - people can’t use their brain to discern fact from fiction anymore.

So true. Currently, that comprises a huge percent of the US population.

And - it was not a vaccine that turned people into zombies... COVID vaccine is not made from virus, like some (very few) vaccines are.

What kind of chips are the "deplorables" worried about? Potato? Corn? Poker?
All the "dip chips" in Congress... oh, and those "chip heads" who judge folks without ever meeting them...
