How to adjust a pair of binoculars

I have a pair of binoculars that when they are adjusted to infinity aren't quite at infinity because the far distance is still slightly out of focus. Does anybody know how you fix this or where I should start looking (for example a search title or term) ?
And if anybody wants to suggest that you just adjust the focus knob or fiddle with the eyepiece diopter setting to alter it I will do my best to come over and boot your backside, just after I do it to Google for all the stupid searches they have sent me on !!

It has a brand name on it of Light Muse. Just a cheap pair 12 x 50 that my wife uses and she has complained that they don't seem sharp. I have confirmed they do what I have mentioned above re can't focus at extreme infinity. I am presuming that maybe they need pulling apart and something machined to allow a fraction more movement - or something similar. I am exploring options before they hit the rubbish tin and I buy her a pair of Nikons.

Now don't get PO'd
Since you have tried all the normal methods of adjusting your binoculars, they are probably defective,I would trash them and get a brand name pair after checking them out in a real store.
Plus 12X50 would take a very steady hand to hold still.
I have a Pair of Bushnell 10X42 That I use from time to time, I'm a bit shaky tases days but manage to see what I'm looking at.I should have bought pair of 8X50s.

The reason why I know it is not a steady hand problem is because they are mounted to a swiss arca plate and used on either a tripod or monopod so it is possible to hold very steady. I have a 10 x 50 Nikon and they don't have this problem. Just had another look and there are two rings that I think if I machine them down slightly they will allow the eyepieces to be adjusted in a wee bit more and this might be enough to fix the problem. They used to work okay (10 years back) so the adjustment can't be too much.
No real problem with buying another pair but covid does not help. Things like binoculars in NZ are not cheap so you always buy stuff like this when overseas and that won't be happening soon.

What % of viewing does she do at infinity? Most of my use is much closer than the horizon although not being sharp at the horizon would be annoying.

Aside from disassembling them and messing around inside and hoping for the best, it sounds like shopping might be your best bet. The range of binoculars is infinite, with prices to match.

May we assume that you have explored/tried this method?

Unfortunately sometimes you get what you pay for and with your wife's binoculars it seems to be the case. Your Nikon's seem to do the job, as do my Steiner's and Manglesphoto's Bushnell's. It really seems to be causing you quite a bit of angst; trash the inferior binoculars, share the Nikons, or buy another quality set. Good luck - and relax, its just a thing, in the greater scheme its not important.

Probably not a lot of viewing at infinity but you know what photographers are like - just because something doesn't work 100% it tends to taint the whole use of it. Bit like the F stop there is a range over which it works and at the moment she cannot go backward and forward as she hones in on whatever she is looking at (usually birds a long way away). Its not like they get used that often to justify the price. I would lend her mine but we tend to be using them both at the same time.
Jerry your last statement only works in the US. Most other places in the world the range is smaller and the prices are larger unless you can travel.
I have dismantled them and think I can machine two surfaces and make two washers so that the eyepieces will move fractionally closer to the body. This should allow them to focus better. Nothing to lose by giving it a go.

Just checked out some prices. About 40% dearer here in NZ even after taking the exchange difference into account.

I appreciate the time it might take but then I am retired.

Chrissybabe, for what its worth I purchsed my Steiner Commander binoculars used, the casing showed quite a bit of use but the optics were perfect. I felt like the wear showed that someone maybe did a whole lot of ocean travel, and it gave them character. I got mine on an online charity auction at a really great price, and maybe if you keep your eyes open you may find a great pair as well. Wishing all the best to you and if you guys want to come over and boot my backside, I've got an extra stateroom where you can stay and the beach is great.

Not worth the effort of trying to fix, you’re unlikely to be successful. But don’t trash, find an amateur astronomer and give them to him. Many of these guys take them apart and find uses for the individual lenses.

Are you first adjusting the bridge so when you look through them you’re seeing not 2 separate view portals, just one. Adjust them until the two portals become on single view portal. Then adjust the vision.
