I gave up storing my raw files (and in fact all my other images: jpg, png, psd, etc.) on my hard drive maybe a decade ago. They are stored on an external hard drive which is dedicated to photos. That drive is included in my backup process. Large external drives are readily available at reasonable prices.

If you are happy using your jpgs alone, I cannot complain. It is your choice. If you do not see enough advantage in using the raw file I will probably not be able to convince you. I personally prefer to do everything from the raw file. A jpg, to me, is an image display format, not an image storage format. I am not alone in my opinion, nor are you. My above response is merely to offer you an alternative solution to a crowded hard drive.

I may change my mind, but for now working with the jpeg file gives me what I need. Most of my problem is that with my bad eyesight I need to crop images to get the composition what I wanted.

I have recently moved to a new computer that is working very well and much faster and in the process I bought a 5TB external drive for backup. I just need to take the time to get it installed. i used a 2TB ext. drive on my old system, but that was barely adequate. --Richard

Growing tired of Adobe/W10 and repeated issues with creative cloud, Iā€™m looking for a replacement of Photoshop, Lightroom CC, RAw, Bridge ā€” all of it. Capture One seems to come very close but not 100%
Suggestions please?
I have my own backup, file management schemes making that aspect unimportant ā€” to me.

Exposure 6 is not bad. Nothing is as good as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom in my opinion.
