We're already to July 6, where do you stand?

Are you learning to better use your current equipment?
Are you learning your processing software?
Are you organizing your legacy images?
Are you organizing your new images?
Did you sell your unused and outdated equipment?
Did you ask for help?
Have you answered a request for help?
Are you using selective focus with an off-center AF point placed specifically on the subject?
Are you investigating higher ISOs?
Are you using your (speedlite) flash?
Are you using your tripod?
Are you using Back Button Focus?
Did you change to mirrorless?

Today is day 187 of 2021, will you create an image over the next 178 remaining days that achieves your resolution?

No specific goals, just to have fun.

I'm a book guy also and have over 100 books on everything from posing to wildlife and macro. If I had read and internalized all that is in those books, I would be one of the world's great photographers! LOL! The reason I get so many books is not to necessarily learn, although I do at times, but rather to look at the pictures and get inspired by what someone worthy of publishing a book is doing. I guess this is sort of backward to the thinking of the 60's -- you know, buying a "Playboy" for the (literary) value, or if being honest, for the exact same thing!

Your books will always be a good reference, pictures and text.

I love this list, thank you for taking the time. Part of the beauty of photography for me, (I have been a professional most of my life) are the multiple opportunities to avoid stagnation, whether it is equipment or software oriented or, more importantly how we creatively stretch ourselves to think out of the box and create images that no one else might have taken. The creative stretch it takes to create the extraordinary out of the ordinary!

I do, and I'm sure most everyone has a few mental items of "I should remember to ...". The idea of this list is just a gentle reminder to consider actually doing one of those mental plans specific to photography ...

Without goals, there is no improvement. Excellent topic. Evaluations and improvement are better done if in a small group going our weekly to achieve or maintain one or more goals.

I'm pretty much with Bob but I never use flash or a tripod, I'm an available light hand held guy. S'why I went to 35mm in the first place. I've been photographing since the '50s so most of my "investigating" is long behind me. Oh, I try to shoot at 200, no high ISO for me. Ttried it, didn't like it.
Started with a Voightlander from the PX in Kores, moved to Nikon (film), now a Canon 5Dc. I print 8x10 so 12mp is enough. Anyway, for me, taking is the hook, not viewing. I do as little post as possible. Harry

And once again you confuse a suggestion with a directive.

Nobody is forcing you to participate. If not interested why do you feel the need to comment. If you don't comment we will all no that you are not interested.

I seldom participate, read this site for amusement. Harry

A very interesting post. I seem to be a perpetual learner. Although I have been taking photos for many years, I spend hours watching educational videos and reading about photography. I can answer “yes” to many of the questions posed, but I confess I don’t shoot enough and I frequently make stupid mistakes when I do shoot.

I recently joined a camera club which takes field trips regularly, to encourage me to spend more time in the field. Practice, practice, practice — my new resolution.

Don't worry about stupid mistakes, they are just learning experiences. I've been doing photography for over 40 years and still do something really nuts. A week ago I sat up two tripods to photograph fireworks. One camera I operated with a remote control. The other camera was set up with a Pluto Trigger which was set to fire the camera when it saw a flash of light. My shots with the remote control camera came out great. The Pluto Trigger showed on my phone (where the app is located) firing 228 times. Photos from that camera -- zero. I forgot to turn the camera on! Oh well, it was my first try with this device so now I know to check one more thing when I think it is ready to take photos.
