Is there a simple effective way to leave my signature on my photos?)

Create a watermark image file and add it into your standard Lightroom Export Preset.

My editor allows me to add text to an image (I always keep the unmarked original).
Font, color, and size are adjustable.
I just select a size and color and place it in a location on the image that (hopefully) is the least distracting to the image.

Yes. Please put it somewhere that I can most easily just crop it off without ruining “my” composition. Thank you !!!

Right, like I'm going to loose thousands.

People with scruples won't copy, people without will remove it no matter where it is located.

The only safe thing to do is not post them anywhere or use low res so they look good on a monitor but can't be blown up. Not worried about pixel peepers...

My very verrrry loose observation is that low rez appears to be the most widely deployed anti theft measure.

Makes sense, too, at least to my eye. Watermarks are not only distracting, they’re rather pretentious. You only get one chance to make a positive, friendly first impression.

Perception......

I don't think they're pretentious, unless they are LARGE AND GAUDY, sticking out like a sore thumb.
Why do you think Olan Mills stamped their name in gold on their portraits?
No reputable lab would make copies of the prints,
you know, back when people were honorable and respectful.

Yes, a rollerball gel ink pen filled with archival ink.

You sign each print individually. A digital signature diminishes the value and is looked down upon by collectors.

Great, if they're printed...

That is if the pictures will be reveled like a Picasso.
.01% of us should be so lucky.

Wouldn't hold your breath for that one.

Will this ink adhere to aluminized or glass prints? I've had a hard time with some ink being able to be smeared or wiped off.

I watermark mine with my copyright in export in Lightroom. It has helped me in court to show my images were copyrighted. So I don't really care if folks think it ruins their view of part of the image, I am protecting myself and my images , low res or not.

Cheers

Just because someone else hates watermarks doesn't mean that you should also.
That's just their opinion, which they are welcome to having.

I have found my customers like a hand-written signature, an edition number, and a date (year). I do not watermark.

Much better for prints.
One should differentiate whether one is referring to watermarking prints or images on the net.
I never watermark prints, I physically sign them.
I'll only watermark images displayed on the net if they are not low resolution, if I feel like it.

I scanned a copy of my signature and saved it as a JPEG file. I can put it anywhere.
