Apple just killed my Firefox browser.

When I turned my Apple computer this morning it automatically updated it's OS to version 11.4

Now my Firefox web browser fails to open. I'm forced to use Safari. My passwords no longer work in Safari. What a pain! Arrggggh!

Is Firefox going to updated soon to get around this?

Interesting...I've got Big Sur 11.4 on an M1 MacBook Pro and am reading this on Firefox - version 88.0.1

Hope you can figure it out

....Hmmm - let me edit this remark. I switched to Firefox as my default browser a few weeks back, as Chrome was becoming too much of a pig. When I clicked the link to the daily digest here, Firefox opened the page and I reviewed a few other entries before getting to yours and responding.

However, moments later Firefox stopped working - that is, it could not "find" UHH or a number of other mainstream sites (though it was able to go to Google, YouTube, and a couple of others so I realized it was not a matter of my overall internet connection going down. Here I am in Safari, able to go to those very sites even while Firefox fails.

Now to me, that is a puzzlement...

...and now even more interesting - less than 5 minutes after Firefox being unable to reach UHH it works again, as evidenced by the fact I am on it right now making this comment.

Curiouser and curiouser...

98% of what my Apple devices do are incredible. The other 2% are sometimes so confounding, I want to use it as a boat anchor.

Now I really appreciate Firefox, after being forced to use Safari for a while this morning. I love jumping between windows.

You might consider trying out the "Brave" browser which is one of the least intrusive available, is very fast and has a clean interface.

That's what I use as the default browser on my computer and iPhone. It prevents tracking (which you can modify by website, if needed) and has some other nice features.

Thank you for the suggestion.

I just downloaded it. Installation was quick and easy. I have been using and it does seem snappy! I was delighted when I saw that it lets me keep multiple tabs active and I can jump between tabs as I need, just like Firefox but faster.
