What did I miss? If it was I could do a search on the forum myself, I did. One of the posts I found was dated 2015, another 2019. Since that post wasn't very complimentary, not to mention old; it seemed like 5-6 yrs might be enough time for them to clean themselves up with better practices if they were a mind to. Was it wrong to ask for a fresh perspective or did I miss something else?

I bough a nikon F2s from the Brooklyn brick and mortar store years ago with no issues. If I remember shipping costs were calculated on the base of dollar purchase. Became extremely expensive with high priced equipment.

Don't know why, but Brooklyn seems to have a reputation for having bad camera stores. Focus Camera is/was in Brooklyn, and perhaps moved to NJ as the OP indicates. Check out http://donwiss.com/pictures/BrooklynStores/ and then do a search in that page for "Focus"

Many of these Brooklyn camera stores look to be in small store-fronts or run-down establishments, any many even run out of residential homes. As many other UHHers have indicated, stick with B&H or Adorama.

I have dealt with Focus Camera here in Brooklyn NY for over 30 years. I believe it is the same company with a NJ (e)mailing address?? If that is the case, I have nothing but good things to say about them! I am fortunate to be able to go into their retail storefront to purchase anything I need and their prices have always matched B &H ( usually the lowest). From the days of Hassleblad cameras and 120 film, to my newest Canon 5DM4, always professional, resourceful and helpful.

You did the right thing. There are a lot or know it alls on here that revel in sarcastic/unhelpful comments so don't let it bother you.
