My website is built with SmugMug and hosted through GoDaddy. I have built it basically for my pleasure, not really to sell anything. The amazing thing is, I have sold photos through it. I travel extensively and have built the site to showcase my travels. Built as a travelog, There is a web page with a story featuring a few photos and the main photo at the top always opens into a gallery. I make it a point to caption every photo as accurately as possible and include the story behind it as well.

You really setup a wonderful Gallery that keeps the eye focused upon your Work. Great Job Sir!!!
You need to change the line in your HTML code that says <title>Home</title> to something like your company name so that search engines will index it. Home is a dumb title and is meaningless to search engines. But your photos are beautiful.

That's the
page title. and is quite
correct as it is the "Home Page".
The "page title" is for browser display, not what search engines key on!
What needs to be added or changed
for search engine indexing is the keyword metadata in the header section:
<meta name="keywords" content="my mind's eye, mind's eye, minds eye, images, photography, harbison, bill harbison, scenic, photo, acadia, landscape, valley forge, jeffersonville, phoenixville, cloyne, Longshadow">
Google search "Bill Harbison photography" and look at the page TITLE of what comes up for my site.....
Nothing to do with the search criteria entered.
Any chance you're a programmer?
I'd suggest using "Quote Reply" so we know to whom you directed your comment.

Just wondering if any of my fellow photographers have built a website - maybe to advertise your work or just to show your images online? I am interested in your designs if you don't mind sharing them here.

I'm not seeking to sell anything, just share with friends, andI've been quite satisfied with flickr (see below).

Some beautiful photographs of properties. What lighting set up do you use and are you using a PC Lens?
Have enjoyed the magic of photography all my life. It can be such a conduit to the soul.

I created my website through photoshelter.com. They have a bundle of templates with personnel to help you organize your web page if needed. I pay about $300 per year for the web site and 100gb of storage. Photoshelter also provides access to training seminars and guest photographic speakers. In addition to the web site and storage, you have periodic access to professional photographers. My last photoshelter web interaction was great. Photoshelter invited photoshelter members to submit their best landscape images and they had a professional landscape photographer critique each photo via zoom. It was very interesting as well as educational. Photoshelter helped all their members get aligned with google analytics to monitor your web site traffic that has been very valuable. My only negative with photoshelter is they do not accept videos. I'm not a html guy so using a pre-fabricated web site worked best for me. If Photoshelter is not your gig, there are others out there that do the same thing but be careful, some are basically a rip off. Do your homework before you select. Good luck!

Very nice work, but why not use a live link and post a live link?

Thanks!
My site is built on pixpa.com. Not as flexible as I would consider ideal, but efficient from an e-commerce perspective and--importantly for a technologically challenged sort such as myself--easy to add/delete/rearrange images and galleries.
