Wow... From 1947 that Rollei would be the equivalent of ~$4.5k today.

You can use this inflation calculator to see how much the cost of those items would be in today's dollars.
Very interesting. Nice calculator. A $2000 camera in 1947 would cost $23,000 today.
from ‘65 to ‘68 when I wasn’t on duty, no Saturday was complete without a trip to Peerless. One of my best buys was a used set of Exakta camera/ lens repair tools for $15.00. Used and “nonfunctional for parts” Exaktas and Exas were other favorite finds.
Haven’t been back since the digital revolution and the Willoughby take/over. Does it still have a “used” inventory? A trip to peerless was like unto a leisurely stroll through the Museum of Natural History- another favorite Saturday haunt since childhood!
When asked what I miss about NYC PEERLESS is always well up in the top-20!

Made me smile. I wound up with two, also from dad and uncle.

Saw this on another site and thought it was interesting.
I miss thumbing through old magazine ads. When I was just getting into photography I remember thinking I could afford a Praktika SLR. Wound up with a more modern Miranda G for my first.
Feel free to add any others to this. Cheers!
I worked for the accounting firm that did the audit work for Peerless Camera.after deciding if I wanted a 35(Leica) or box camera, I decided on a box type! I wound up with a Rollei!
