Didn’t you just say you rented it for a month? You never opened it?
Yes, you can rent gear off of borrowlenses.com. We rented an r5 a few months for a few jobs it was about $660.
The unit I have now is brand new purchased from Best Buy.

$633.26 restocking fee
We rented it for a month before the 1st update and it was about $660..
Worse case scenario I use it and return it. I have 41 more days to return it.
I did have a buyer lined up here in town but his wife wasn’t having it..
There is no restocking fee at Best Buy if the product is unopened.
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/help-topics/return-exchange-policy/pcmcat260800050014.c?id=pcmcat260800050014Seems highly suspicious. After using a rental for a month, you bought the camera knowing your team were all using another brand.
Also, you say you bought it from Best Buy, but the packing box it’s sitting on is Amazon. Can you post the Best Buy invoice?
LOL yes we rented one a few months ago (different media group). The team I’ve been working with recently lined me up with some projects the same day I got the order in.
And yes, I had 6 packages from Amazon that I picked up at the office.
As to the R5, Best Buy manager said they have to send the box back to canon regardless if unopened so they have to charge a restocking fee. I tried at another one down the street but they referred me back to the other Best Buy supposedly since it’s camera gear. I sent an email to a corporate manager and maybe it’ll get resolved. If not, I’ll be selling the gear.
Problem is you are pretty much trying to offload these at full price, including Texas’s high sales tax. Anyone can buy these from B&H with no sales tax or shipping.
Why don’t you show the Best Buy manager the return policy that Jesu linked to above, which clearly states no restocking fee if returned unopened.

Yes but of course anyone can put an offer in =)
I did, but his response was that they have to send back to the manufacturer regardless if it’s unopened or used, which is why they have to charge the fee, which I argued that it’s stated in black and white on their policy.
I did have a user give me an idea to return it and then challenge the fee from credit card services. May just go that route. Or I can use the hell out of it for the next 39 days and return it and get hit the $633... borrowlenses charged us $660 for a month of rental when we used it for some local ad campaigns so it would be like we rented it again. I’m pretty sure I can claim the loss for 2021.
