Interesting point: "Vehicles that are designed to run on unleaded fuel need no engine modification."

Please say more about this issue: "The biggest problem is locating a place for the fuel tank or tanks." Do you mean to say that propane takes up more volume than gasoline for the same mileage?

It definitely takes up more space. Propane tanks are pressure vessels. In addition, propane has only about 2/3 as many btu per gallon as gasoline.

That is your take away? Seeing how the Republican Party is shrinking, I can see your feeling of impending doom and gloom about allowing more citizens to vote and working to overturn Citizen's United.

But remember that propane tanks are banned from all tunnels, which makes their use in cities with tunnels limited.

East coast cities such as New York City, and Boston have a good amount ot tunnels in and around their metropolitan areas.

Some tunnels have certain hours when propane tanks are allowed. I also am not sure whether this applies to propane used as the primary fuel source.

The use of propane in vehicles raises concerns that I never considered before this thread. The propane octane appears high. It seems to this layman that "higher compression ratios" result in more motor power. I must say this thread has verged on mechanical engineering over my head.

Well, that's a new one to me. This ban must connect propane tanks to tunnels in some way dangerous. I could look it up.

If by "making the Democrat party a permanent ruling class" you mean guaranteeing people the right to vote instead of suppressing that right, then you are correct. Everyone knows that high voter turnout favors Democrats.

Republican Party shrinking, I don't think so, so the dems stuffed ballot boxes, and changed election laws so that there was no accounting for which votes were legit and which weren't. We will never really understand what happened in the last election, but it is pretty clear that the republicans would still hold the Senate were it not for Stacey Abrams, her sister, and the lawsuits she prevailed in and Trump's non stop campaign that was upsetting to Georgia voters on both sides of the aisle. Democrat control shrunk in the House which should send you a message and so far I am more than confident that the first few weeks of the new Administration is scaring the Phuck out of everyday Americans.

When are you going to give up this false narrative about stuffed ballot boxes etc.? It is getting old.

IMO, approval ratings after one week in office mean nothing. Give it a year and see where the numbers are.

Biden's approval ratings the first week after he took office were higher than Trump's. I have to admit, though, that Trump's inauguration crowd was bigger than Biden's.

Thanks for links. The concern appears to be that propane settles in low areas because heavier than air. Never knew that fact. I can understand the restriction for this reason.

Thank you for the breakdown of the mechanics of propane use. You answered my concern about price. With wider use of propane, its cost might come down.

I'm supposing propane burns cleaner than gasoline which argues for it as an alternative. The local transit district touts propane as more friendly to the environment.

As to fitting a propane container to an automobile, I'm supposing this concern the engineers would resolve.

Correct. MUCH cleaner burning. Much lower quantity of HC, CO, SO2, SO4 emissions.
Essentially, burning propane (C3H8) gives CO2 and water by the reaction:

C3H8 + 5O2 —> 3CO2 + 4H2O + heat

See the discussion for propane on Wikipedia.

Yeah, that's right, I've seen many forklifts with a propane bottle.

I will read the Wikipedia writeup on propane.
