Established in 1839, this is burial place of Johns Hopkins, Enoch Pratt and many other prominent Baltimoreans. John Wilkes Booth is also buried there in an unmarked grave in the Booth family plot. The cemetery is in the middle of the city and most people have no idea how beautiful it is. I spent three hours there on Saturday and didn't come close to finishing everything I wanted to see.

Thank you. It is easy to access. The neighborhood is a little rough. But, you'll be locked inside the grounds. You must call to gain access. Check their website. There is a lot of information there. The only famous grave that I visited was Booth. I have the map that they gave me and I'll research where I want to visit before I go the next time. It's a great place for photographers.

These Victorian era cemeteries are beautiful places.
They are arboretums and nature preserves in addition.
Well worth a visit.

I've been there a few times and its a very interesting cemetery. Really interesting terrain and views, its pretty hilly and you can get a great view of parts of the city.
IIRC one of the CIA leaders that helped to install the Shah of Iran is also buried there.
Booth's grave is kind of unmarked but its there with the rest of the Booth family, they were from Bel Air MD and might have moved to Havre de Grace, MD later on.
There is a larger marker that has the name BOOTH in big letters that people put Pennies in. Interesting side story is they buried Booth in the dark of night so know one would know. When the congregation of the Church found out that their Preacher did the internment they fired him. LOL.

I live in Bmore so a note of caution. That area is pretty rough caution is warranted outside the gate.

I've done it twice, the most recent being about 2 years ago.
I'm not sure if he still does the tour or not especially now with Covid and all.
I highly recommend it. He gave an excellent tour, has an amazing amount of knowledge and sprinkled in all the "hot gossip" and "rumors" and "salacious" details that really made it fun.
