A motor home doesn't work for everyone. I know a few who have tried it and then gave it up after a short time. You might want to rent one for a few weeks before you sell your house.

building my stealth nomadic vehicle and will hit the road in three months, looking forward to it

Napabob, I know that you've been working on it for quite a while now and I'm eager to see you post pictures of it here. I've followed several that have used the stealth approach and many are very inventive. One fellow and his daughter both have one and they look like utility company vehicles including decals and lettering and no one would ever know that they were living accommodations...until they looked inside.

This is my favorite fellows build. If you haven't seen it before or even if you did it's great to see it again.

Thanks CPO, I have been cancer free for 8 years. we too sold our house and did'nt look back. our travel strategy was to find a fork in the road and take it.

Exactly right! You never know what you are going to find if you get off the interstate and take your time. Another thing is to find a photogenic place and live comfortably for days until you have sucked all the photo opportunities out of the place. Bad weather or light or skies is a thing of the past.
We are in a fifth wheel trailer so we always have a convenient means of transportation. Our tow vehicle is a 4wd truck that can go just about anywhere.
My wife and I are both retired Navy Veterans. Most of the big military bases, and a lot of the smaller ones have RV parks these days that we have access to, so expenses are under control when we stop for the season.
It's all good.
Glad to hear that the health scare has been dealt with. So when are you headed back out there ?

Motorhomes are for the most part beautiful machines going down the road. Some of them are even good quality. Most are not. We travel in a fifth wheel trailer with a tow truck. You get a lot more bang for the buck with a trailer. We did a lot of looking and investigating before we pulled the trigger. Bought one of the highest rated on the market and went 2nd hand, saved a ton of money and have been very happy with reliability and live-ability.

Thanks, I've seen this one already and he's the inspiration behind me adding signage after the (paint job (happening next week) to help sell the "I'm not living here"........don't want to highjack this thread with a bunch of pics, here's the exterior with new rack of aluminum angle (not shown) hiding solar panels from ground viewing

Napabob, I truly understand the meaning of 'stealth' as well as the old, 'loose lips sink ships'. At times it's far better to be thought to be somewhere rather than known to be somewhere.

I like the idea; except my wife would want to take her horse. i would need a tow along to carry all of my stuff.

It's a great lifestyle. Just takes some getting used to. I hope you have as much fun as we have.

Planning on it! We've rented before taking the plunge, just to make sure it could work for us. It did. . .

Nice looking rig! What direction will you be heading?

Thanks!

We're in Delaware. We spent some time on Skyline Drive in Shenandoah last week. Next week we're headed south to FL to visit family. After that, possibly to SoCal along a mostly southern route - then up to Oakland
- we have sons in LA and Oakland, then back south, across the desert and warmer areas - since the coach won't be winterized. That should take us into December.

My wife and I did part-time for about 14 years until a fall that my wife took limited her mobility. We now have a 5th wheel and pickup for sale at a very reasonable price. PM me if you want more information. We are located in Northern Virginia.

Looks nice. One of the complaints my cousin had was where and whenever you wanted to go anywhere you were driving this motor home around. Parking at times a pain.
Good luck. Oh yeah, you really have to like who you are with.

Thanks!

We bought the Sprinter because it is small - 25ft - and can easily fit in a double parking space in just about any lot. It also feels less like an RV and more like a car - one is totally unaware it is 11,000 lbs when fully loaded. We had fun watching the gas powered RVs climbing some of the steeper grades at Skyline Drive in VA last week - the little diesel in the Sprinter had no issues at all. The best part is the 15-16 mpg we get!

We got a nice surprise last week as well. We chose Shenandoah specifically because they do not offer any hookup - you just get a space. But, they allow running a generator in the morning after 8. I was curious to see if my coach could be used for boondocking or dry camping. We have 475w of solar on the roof, but still have only a pair of OEM flooded batteries. We shut down everything except the fridge at 7 pm, and by the next morning I still had 12 volts left on the house batteries - so yes, we can go pretty much anywhere - even with our low capacity batteries. Either a pair of deep cycle golf cart batteries or AGMs are in the future if we decide to go off the beaten path more often.

Our first couple of trips - maiden voyage and shake down cruises - either way there was quite a learning curve. But it was fun. Luckily my wife and I worked together for 20 yrs in a home based business, in the same space - and we both survived. Our poor cat on the other hand . . .
