Design flaw: my face or Fuji X-T3?

I love my Fuji X-T3 except for one minor irritant. Very frequently I will put my face up to the viewfinder and the little square box that shows the focus area will be way off center. I will diligently re-center it but this annoys me. It took me a few days to realize my nose was hitting the toggle switch on the back and displacing the focus square. My nose is "generous" but not Jimmie Durante-size (oops, just dated myself as an old codger). I have learned to live with it but it would be nice if I had a more petite nose or Fuji had not designed it so the nose easily hits the toggle when using the viewfinder. Sigh. Just wondering if I am an outlier - or everyone else has re-programmed the toggle switch to something else or have learned to better control their nose?

PS What I am calling the toggle switch is what Fuji calls the focus lever or focus stick I believe.

One of the benefits of being a left eye dominant photographer is that my nose doesn’t get in the way.

I have the same problem but put it down to my nose hitting the touchscreen when the focus grid was showing. Easily rectified by pressing the joystick which centres the focus point.

Using your left eye would place your nose closer to the focus joystick than the right eye. No? What am I missing here?

This for sure is an issue. I solved it by always having my right thumb on the focus joystick. Never an issue anymore.

Isn’t there an extended viewfinder piece that would solve the problem. Saw one on a Fuji the other day.

Mike Tyson might help you flatten your nose a bit.

Be sure to wear ear protectors though.

I have the X-T4 which probably has the same layout? I was curious and grabbed my manual. What Fuji calls the focus stick/focus lever, I would call the focus joystick. My nose doesn’t come anywhere close to this button with either eye pressed to the eyepiece! You must have Jimmy Durante beat by a long shot, no offense!! (He is a little before my time, but not by much)

My nose does hit the LCD screen though, but not enough to change my focus point, which is easily solved by pressing the “focus stick” straight in to re-center the focus point. Perhaps an eyepiece extender would solve the problem as another poster mentioned.

Hope this helps!
