To paraphrase Will Rogers, I never met a printer I didn't like. I had a bunch of Canon iP4500 printers for over ten years, and they all stopped working at the same time - bad print heads. My current favorite is an Epson ET-2760 with ink tanks. Ink costs are ridiculously low.

I always look online for reviews before I buy anything.

Jerry,

What do you think of the Epson ET-2760 for photo prints?

My PIXMA gives a mechanical bang noise when I tell it to print. It would probably be cheaper to buy a new one instead of having this one fixed. Need recommendations for a good Canon with a reasonable price.

Without knowing more, such as what you will be printing with it, the quality of printing you need, if you need it to do other things (scanning, etc.), whether or not you need a wide printer, an approx. budget for the purchase or even which printer you've been using (which would at least give us some clues) it's utterly impossible to say what would be the "best" replacement.

I chuckled at the response that say the Best Canon Printer would be an Epson (without any knowledge of the above).

Love my Epson XP 620

I loved mine as well until it became hopelessly clogged. I purchased a Canon mega tank to replace it and I love it even more.

My Epson XP-820 is terrible. Frequently prints with an ink splash on the image if not used for a while & print heads cannot be removed for cleanng. I am going to go for the Canon Pro 100 which seems to have the most positive reviews on this forum

Is anyone using the new pro 300 or have any experience with it?

It depends on several things. For phots only or general use also. The size of the prints. And the $. I went to a Canon Pro 1000 because it's for photos only (have a B&W general use printer) and at a show Canon was making prints for the attendees and using a Pro 1000 printer. If that was what they use to show the Canon quality, I figured I should use it.

I just purchased the Canon TR8520 ($180). Really impressed with the photo and text quality.

What are your needs? Which PIXMA do you have now?

Mine does to, but it's the front cover opening and banging the surface of the desk! :)

That's what my old Canon printer did if the output door was closed.

I won't use Epson after a print head failure of my last Epson. I use Brother and HP printers.

I have used three Canon printers and used them for years, never an ink jet clog, even when not used for weeks.
