Arabian Peninsula - UAE/Abu Dhabi - 51 - Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque - Stained glass windows
Here we come into the photographers "candy store":
Besides the very large numbers of mosaic stone inlays and some wooden decorative pieces, there are good number of glass windows and doors treated in a very artistic way. While the wooden elements and certainly the ceramics are quite common decorative elements within mosques in many lands, the treatment of glass in this particular mosque, as shown in this set, is something rather unusual and I personally was very much attracted by it. This is our final look at this mosque and the last set of pictures from inside the mosque concentrates on these glass-etchings and -mosaics.
I suggest using the double-downloads on some of these pictures, effective particularly on #s 8 & 10.
I look forward to your comments and questions and recommend viewing the downloads.

Thank you Barbara, so do I!
The detail in these images would be impossible to take in during one visit or perhaps a lifetime!! The detail is almost unfathomable and to me, over the top. Terrific photos though that spotlights this excess!!

Thank you very much Jim for your kind note - and you hit it absolutely right: that's why I felt like a kid in the proverbial candy store: don't know where to look first, in which direction to go ...... and basically we had good time but could have used a lot more - thank you again very much for looking in and taking the time to comment, Jim, much appreciated.

All nice, but the geometry in no.1 sets it apart for me.
