I was not posting about PSE or Photoshop Elements. I wrote about Premiere Elements. I counted the transitions in Premiere Elements and got to over 100.
Do not confuse Photoshop Elements with Premiere Elements.
Thanks for the clarification. I did confuse the two. PSE is something I need to research as I know nothing about it. Is it a stand-alone product?
I have seen the samples page, several times actually, and that is why I thought it was less than PSG. I’ll look to see if there is a trial. Thanks.

Check resources online (ProShow Enthusiasts on Facebook and a similarly named forum) for how to eliminate the “unlicensed” problem. It was not a MS update but a problem with the ProShow license server that caused the problem recently. It may require you to uninstall, reinstall and authenticate to correct the problem.
Thank you. I’m becoming more frustrated and that may help.

I’ve used the Photodex program ProShow Gold for several years successfully. However it seems whenever there is a Microsoft OS update lately, it causes problems. When trying to publish a show, I get a message that the software is illegal (it’s not) and twice I have had to uninstall and reinstall ProShow to work again. Thanks to UHHers, I had guidance and help. Now I’m looking for a new program so I don’t continue to have problems with unsupported software.
I am looking for suggestions for similar software for Windows 10. I know the Photodex creators have a new company who use the subscription method for their software but I would prefer not to go that route.
What I am looking for:
-Wide choice of slide styles and transitions
-Ability to add music
-Ability to add multiple captions with a choice of fonts and font sizes
-Ability to move the caption as a text box where I want to place it
-Ability to change timing of each slide style and transition
-Ability to compile to .mp4 or similar file to watch on TV or share
Has anyone used a slideshow program currently being supported that will match what ProShow Gold does? Thank you for your help.

One such program, good for slideshow or video editing I use is "Filmora" by Wondershare. Simple but efficient and reasonably priced.
God Bless,

I am not recommending "PSE" for slideshows. I am writing about "PrE", or Premiere Elements, the video editing software. Yes it is a stand-alone program. But, it can be purchased with PSE in a combo pack. They come with software called "Organizer" that will organize you image files and, in minor ways, connect some of the features of both.
ProShow and other slideshow programs make video files to share and play on TVs, YouTube or whatever. All video editing software I know of will make "slideshows".

Davinci Resolve is a video editor that will do great slideshows.

Filmora is another video editor that will make great slide shows.
Slideshow programs are limited to slideshows. Video editing programs do slideshows AND videos. If you are trying to replace ProShow or add slideshow creation to your abilities, why not move to a video editor program?

Wow, I did it again. I did mean Premiere Elements but used the wrong abbreviation. I had thought it was only available in conjunction with Photoshop Elements not a stand-alone. Research time!!! Thank you.

I guess I don’t know the proper term for what I’m looking for. It appears video editing may be a better term as I have incorporated small video files in my ProShow slideshows to create the overall show. Do you have any suggestions of good video editing programs? And what I want to do is more than an old-fashioned slideshow like watching 35 mm slides on a projector. Thank you.

Thanks to both of you, Papa Joe and bsprague. I’ll take a look.

Movavi is excellent.
Thanks for the second vote. Unfortunately I don’t think they have a free trial so I’d need to rely on “hogs”

Oddly, our "modern" TVs all have USB ports in the back. You can copy your JPEG image files to a USB "Thumb Drive", plug it into the back of the TV and use the TV's remote just like our old slide projectors. The only catch is getting them in the order you want. You may have to rename them to do that.
My suggestions for video editing programs will follow what has been posted here. My personal preference is Adobe Premiere Elements because I started using it 10 versions ago. It is a habit I know well.
Any video editor should work. Apple computers come with iMovie. Windows computers used to come with Windows Movie Maker and now come with Photos. All three will make slide shows in a video file (MP4) structure.
I'm been using SmartShow 3D and have been very happy with this software. Before purchasing SmartShow, I tried out 3 or 4 different packages. I liked SmartShow 3D the best. Here's the link:
