Looking for slideshow software for PC similar to ProShow Gold

I’ve used the Photodex program ProShow Gold for several years successfully. However it seems whenever there is a Microsoft OS update lately, it causes problems. When trying to publish a show, I get a message that the software is illegal (it’s not) and twice I have had to uninstall and reinstall ProShow to work again. Thanks to UHHers, I had guidance and help. Now I’m looking for a new program so I don’t continue to have problems with unsupported software.

I am looking for suggestions for similar software for Windows 10. I know the Photodex creators have a new company who use the subscription method for their software but I would prefer not to go that route.

What I am looking for:
-Wide choice of slide styles and transitions
-Ability to add music
-Ability to add multiple captions with a choice of fonts and font sizes
-Ability to move the caption as a text box where I want to place it
-Ability to change timing of each slide style and transition
-Ability to compile to .mp4 or similar file to watch on TV or share

Has anyone used a slideshow program currently being supported that will match what ProShow Gold does? Thank you for your help.

I think all video editing software does that. I use Adobe Premiere Elements and it certainly does all of what is on your list. Unique to Premiere Elements is that it will recognize and process RAW files along with JPEGs. Further, if you set up Lightroom to save your edit adjustments in "sidecar/XMP" files, Premiere Elements will see those adjustments on import.

Outputting your slide show in 4K for your newer 4K TV is easy too.

It is normally $100 and sometimes on sale for $65. Free trials are offered.

I use Premiere Elements often enough that I can probably answer or explain any questions you might have.

LibreOffice has a slideshow component and is free.

Thank you. I had seen this and looked at it, but it seems rather limited compared to ProShow in terms of slide styles and transitions as well as fonts and caption placement. I’ll take another look.
I’m hoping someone in hog-land has used and recommends a program that provides more than this.

Thank you. While I’m not familiar with PSE, I thought its worth was more for post processing and thus limited in its slideshow capabilities. I use Capture One for Sony (express), Affinity and Luminar for PP so haven’t searched other PP possibilities. The biggest downfall in most of these programs where slideshows are secondary is the lack of features I’ve come to like so much in ProShow, such as a large variety of slide styles and transitions.

I was not posting about PSE or Photoshop Elements. I wrote about Premiere Elements. I counted the transitions in Premiere Elements and got to over 100.

Do not confuse Photoshop Elements with Premiere Elements.

Do not think it is limited ... may actually do more than what PSG can do.

Did you see the samples page ...

Check resources online (ProShow Enthusiasts on Facebook and a similarly named forum) for how to eliminate the “unlicensed” problem. It was not a MS update but a problem with the ProShow license server that caused the problem recently. It may require you to uninstall, reinstall and authenticate to correct the problem.

I had pro show producer and really enjoyed it. When they closed their doors, I was referred to Photopia.nl.
Very similar to producer but there is a learning curve. Loving the program.

I have heard that Movavi is a good replacement, but I haven't tried it yet.
