Truth is, that the monuments of Confederate traitors should never have been erected in the first place. Most of them were put up in the early 20th Century and truly were put there as a reminder of white supremacy. Honoring the fallen has nothing to do with it. Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and the others were traitors and should have been hanged at the end of the war but Lincoln didn't think it was a good idea.
Apparently, Booth wasn't opposed to killing and like a coward, he shot Lincoln in the back of his head so he wouldn't have to see him.
I'm somewhat surprised that the southern states don't have a statue of Booth.
