I have a manfretto mono pod and it is heavey duty but I would like something that extends the same but is shorter when not in use.
That looks good. I'm glad we don't have a Costco nearby. :D

I have $350 to spend on tripod. what are your suggestions. also pan head, or ball head. I take manly pictures not much video. Thank you for your input.Dennis
I got one of these recently because it folds up small and is not too heavy.

Worth a trip just for the hot dogs!
Hot dogs??? Noooooooo don't do it!!! Step away from the hot dogs Newfie!!! They are the worst!!![/quote]
Hi Fran if I were a young woman and had a figure like your's I to would stay away from the dogs at Costco. Like your Avatar! Back to the tripod. Dolica's are very well made I have one and love it very much. Price is also a good bet too.
A video head is useless for general photography as it only allows for horizontal shots, not vertical/portrait.
A ball head is useless for video. The best pan and tilt head is what you want. Read my last for instructions on panning with telephoto or video.
The "Benbo" or "Uni-lock" ttripods are by far the most versatile and sturdy but are not the lightest. I have used them in the studio and for nature/wildlife and would not change.
