Average price for used K1 ?
I have used Pentax cameras since 1964 and am very pleased with all of them. I still have my original Honeywell Pentax H3v, the Spotmatic film cameras, and a K3 as well as a K10D, plus a large assortment of lenses. The H3v purchased in 1964 with the clip-on light meter that still works. All in all, fine optics and great equipment. It is unfortunate that Canon and Nikon are rather highly promoted and advertised while Pentax is not. Maybe I am a diehard, or a proud minority, but I am not about to switch due to advertising.
Pentax lacks the financial and technical resources of the Big Two, under the circumstances, i think their doing a commendable job.

Love Pentax cameras; they stand up well to tough handling. My biggest complaint is, I think, related to their low public profile. Even some genuine camera stores in big cities don't carry the Pentax product line. So you can't just stroll in and check out a new model or inspect a lens, or ask a question.
THe lack of marketing and lack of presence in B&M outlets is a deterrent for sales of Pentax. I started with a different make in 1970 but circumstances led me to Pentax K1000 SE in the mid 80s. Since then I have been a strong supporter of the brand. I still have an original Petri and my K1000. I am a slightly advanced amateur using two Kx models and a recently acquired K70. I love them all. I just wish there were a few places to walk in and pick up a Pentax camera to get a feel of it.
The Big Two can learn a lesson or two from Pentax, all cameras, mid grade and up, dslr or mirrorless...should be weather sealed like Pentax cameras.

The Pentax Forum does not allow political talk and is better moderated than this place; from my pov, a comparison of the two depends on when you look and why you are looking.
You are absolutely correct on that point. The Pentax forum is NOT a place to display politics. Nor is it a place to demonstrate little & big EGOS. I feel that there is more sense of community on the hog, but sometimes that “Family atmosphere gets overwhelming when so many misbehaveing DUMB COUSINS show up. So much conflict also. I’ve never been treated in a mean way on the Pentax forum for simply misspelling a word or some other minor infraction. I guess that I just accept the RUDENESS OF A FEW “KNOW-IT-ALLS” on the Hogg to hang with so many decent and smart photographers. I have had OTHER brands, and still do, but I absolutely love my Pentax glass, my K-1, my K-S2 and Pentax stuff. I still have 2 spotmatic film cameras and many m-42 lenses. My main concern about the Pentax forum is the lack of a sense of community. RJM

That is strange, because I personally feel more community there than here.
The only reason I've been hanging out more over here lately is that nothing new has happened with Pentax lately.
Are there any adapters from old Pentax screw mount to pentax K mount, and are they any good ?

When Pentax itself made the change about fifty years ago, they made it simple, keeping the same flange distance {so no glass was involved}. I find the old lenses to work fine, but I don't do it very often because I hate using manual focus, although I can handle 'M' mode for aperture and shutter speed.
The genuine "Pentax" adapters are becoming fairly rare today. There are some Chinese replicates that work OK {but not quite as well - they stick sometime and can be difficult to remove from the camera}. Some companies also sell a flanged version that cannot provide focusing to infinity.

If YOU like it, ...IT’S good. BUT! I happen to be an avid pentax Glass FAN. I have a 60 to 250 by pentax that’s perfect(imho) Your K10 can use pentax glass from years gone by, as well as some 3rd party folks...enjoy yourself. Hell! I just bought an IRIX 150mm Macro that’s pretty cool for the money. I say What-ever-floats-your-BOAT.. Since I was a NAVY guy back in the day......RJM

Is the K1 still available?
The K-1 mkII is now the pentax FF, and is still a steal, compared to all other FF cameras. I’m perfectly happy with my K-1, so much so that I let my K-01 and K-5s go Now it’s me and my Sweet little K-S2 a couple of spotmatics(film) and 3 Fuji’s, a Nikon P-900, and a canon pocket camera. Enjoy your stuff

I've used some non-Pentax glass over the years (since 67 or so), but most of them focus backwards, which is seriously annoying when I'm trying to grab a moving subject.

You mean it twists opposite the camera you usually use? Honestly, I have never thought about it because I usually use AF.
