Assuming people that have cameras are not destitute, the price of Photoshop Elements is reasonable. It has one enormous advantage. There are endless learning resources. There are classes, books, YouTubes, tutorials, blogs, websites and forums (like this one). One of the biggest changes to Photoshop Elements itself over the last couple years is the depth of the built in help. The "Help" menu is simple but it is well connected through the internet to vast learning resources. The very first thing on the Help menu is "Getting Started" which takes you directly to here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/get-started.html
