But this at a Dunkin Donuts, another long line up the street at a Starbucks drive thru....and rarely is the Kirkwood Highway so empty!

My town still looks fairly normal but, for how long, who knows.

Drove to gas up the car this morning (only fill it once a month and it was time) and the traffic was more than I expected for all the people out of work. Quite a crazy and sad time today.

Yes, first one was in the 70's... I worked at an ARCO station... remember ARCO? Atlantic gas? Regular & HIGH test? ;)

Second one hit in the early eighties, not as bad, but price jumped up.

There were two distinct shortages....early 70's and late 70's, almost 1980... I figured it was later in the 80's but it was almost 1980....

I really miss high test at .37 cents per gallon!

Don’t remember Arco here in Texas; but do remember Phillips 66 & Gulf. Haven’t seen a 66 here in years, but have seen a couple of Gulf stations in Austin, Tx (a city of about 1,000,000 population) .

ARCO may have been East Coast only, it started as Atlantic Refining Company and was pretty common around here in the 60's, 70's and 80's.

WAWA seems to be the big player around here now ...

I remember in about 1960 when I first started driving there were two stations in town that would occasionally get in a price war as low as 17 or 18 cents a gallon. Could drive all week on about $2.00. Those were the days.

Yea, used to pick up coke bottles along the road for the $.02 deposit for gas money

I hadn’t thought about the gas lines of the 70s in a long time...thanks for the reminder! But you’re right, and I hadn’t thought of the similarities. My wife loves Starbucks cafe mocha, so during this time of staying home, we go thru the drive-thru once a week as a treat. Yesterday the line was so long we left and went to another Starbucks.
