"Americans were advised to avoid nonessential travel and gatherings of more than 10 people until at least April 30. Deaths nationwide approached 2,500, with more than 1,000 in New York. Spain asked the nation to go into “hibernation” as death toll climbs.

The first shipment of Chinese-made medical gear has arrived in New York. But other countries said some of the equipment was faulty."

"Two of the top doctors advising President Trump on the coronavirus pandemic warned on Sunday that as many as 200,000 Americans could die during the outbreak, even with much of the country already under stay-at-home orders and practicing social distancing.

The figures convinced President Trump to extend social distancing guidelines through the end of April, a stark reversal on earlier comments that the country would be back to normal by Easter.

Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said during a White House briefing that the grim projection on the number of deaths was based on scientific modeling and that the forecasts had convinced Mr. Trump to extend the restrictions."

Trump has misjudged and downplayed the severity of this pandemic from the start.
Step by step he has to be lead into reality by the scientists that he doesn’t trust.
And, still, there are those that think this is a media hoax created to discredit him.
He discredits himself everyday around 5:00 pm.

You are right about that, no question.

"Donald Trump’s Cult of Personality Did This

The autocratic political culture that has propped up the Trump administration has left the nation entirely unprepared for an economic and public-health calamity.

The president of the United States is a menace to public health.

I don’t mean that I disagree with him on policy, although I do. I don’t mean that I abhor the president’s expressed bigotry toward religious and ethnic minorities, although that is also true. I am not referring to Donald Trump’s efforts to corrupt the Justice Department, shield his criminal associates from legal peril, or funnel taxpayer money to his tacky hotels and golf courses, although all of these things are reason enough to oppose the president.

What I am referring to is the fact that, soon after the coronavirus outbreak emerged in China, the rest of the world began to regard it as a threat to public health, while Trump has seen it as a public-relations problem.

Trump’s primary method of dealing with public-relations problems is to exert the full force of the authoritarian cult of personality that surrounds him to deny that a problem even exists.

This approach has paid political dividends for the Republican Party, in the form of judicial appointments, tax cuts for the wealthy, and a rapid erosion of the rule of law.

But applied to the deadly pandemic now sweeping the planet, all it has done is exacerbate the inevitable public-health crisis, while leaving both the federal government and the entire swath of the country that hangs on his every word unprepared for the catastrophe now unfolding in the United States.

The cardinal belief of Trumpism is that loyalty to Trump is loyalty to the country, and that equation leaves no room for the public interest."

I searched almost everywhere but I can't find one word on Obama cancelling the ventilators.

Can you give me a reputable site to go to so I can read it for myself. Thank you.

That’s because you are a maroon.

Even the NEW YORK TIMES reported it:

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2020/03/29/business/coronavirus-us-ventilator-shortage.amp.html

Might I suggest you get an internet that uses the google?

There is not one word there that Obama cancelled the ventilators. Do you want to try again or should we

just file this under more BS from Lww?

Money was budgeted. A federal contract was signed. Work got underway.

And then things suddenly veered off course. A multibillion-dollar maker of medical devices bought the small California company that had been hired to design the new machines. The project ultimately produced zero ventilators.

That failure delayed the development of an affordable ventilator by at least half a decade, depriving hospitals, states and the federal government of the ability to stock up. The federal government started over with another company in 2014, whose ventilator was approved only last year and whose products have not yet been delivered.

From the CDC on the 2019-2020 Influenza season;

400,000 - 730,000 Hospitalizations
24,000- 62,000 deaths

Main Stream Media - **crickets**

Dead is dead whether its the "seasonal flu" or COVID-19 and 24,000 dead should be a national headline no matter what it was. But the "flu" just isn't as catchy or scary as COVID-19!!!

So, why the difference in reporting? Why does the news insist on the scary headlines for this bug? I guess it's hard to generate much panic (aka emotion) on something that nearly everyone has already survived over and over. Does it qualify as a "media hoax'? No, it does not. But that is not to say that the media has not ramped up the panic.

Case in point;

We NEED Ventilators!!!!! (Fredo)

oh, yeah, I got 4000 stocked in a warehouse that I haven't deployed yet (also Fredo)

I guess in some ways the media needs to do this besides improving their bottom line. I mean you have the boneheaded leadership in Louisiana that can't use whatever they got between their ears to practice social distancing instead of wild in the street social grinding parties til past dawn.

What’s funny is y’all flush yourselves out.

What happened to the incessant bleating that it’s all the fault of the POTUS no matter what it is ... unless, of course, it was Dear Leader.

I let y’all set the ground rules on this ... and now y’all are straining to see who can soil their britches the fullest about how holding you to you own standards is unfair.
